Wipeout Woes

With ePSXe V1.60, Wipeout 3 works perfectly until I cross the start/finish line on the opening lap (i.e. when the clock starts), then the whole thing locks up solid. I've tried pretty much every CD and Video Plug-in with no joy, and no other emulator seems to even get as far as the race (most crash or lock after the opening).

Settings (which work GT2 fine):
Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.73
P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.7 (all 4 boxes ticked)
Xeven's Cdr Driver 0.93

System:
Athlon XP 3000+
GeForce 4 Ti4600
1GB DDR 333 RAM (2x512MB)
Epox 8RDA+
SB Audigy 2
Using Lite-On 2410b for playing the game
Also tried Sony DRU-510A
Enermax 550W Power
Lian-Li PC6083

A search on the forum showed a post about a lack of music, so someone has made this game work - can anyone tell me how?

Thanks.

Re: Wipeout Woes

I've played this game a lot on ePSXe 1.5.2.

But I was playing from an iso made from my copy of the game after I applied the security check patch (at that time the cd plugins couldn't handle the subchannel data).
So I'd suggest making as iso as well because I doubt ePSXe 1.6 is at fault.

Thanks, it runs from an ISO! I never thought I'd miss the music in a racing game, but at least it plays now! I did try running the ISO from a virtual drive, but had the same problem. I'd forgotten how difficult that game got...

Re: Wipeout Woes

rip the music to mp3/mpc/whatever and play them in the background with your favorite audio player ;-)
and if you get tired of the tracks you can change it to some other good mixes !

Playing this game while listening to techno tracks is really a great pleasure of mine and it really doesn't feel the same without...
