help, breath 3, 2d grafics

well, starting with the computer, i have a duron 850, 128 ram, video card onboard SIS 730 shared vram (i use with 16, but there isn't any difference from 8, cause this video board sux), motherboard pcchips m812, audio onboard SIS 7018

my trouble is with 2d grafics (i am trying to solve this cause of breath of fire, but i tested it with megaman x6 and it showed the same problem), when the dragon, or anything moves, shows blank (but not always blank, some times in the color of the thing moving) spots in a rectangle with variable sizes, and gets worse if the object moves faster. I guess it is the "glitches" but i really don't know for sure, i tried get the new video board drivers, directx9a, LOT's of enable/disable in the configuration screen of the plugin and nothing solved, tried other plugins (Peops and some other found on ngemu)too, some solved the problem, but created other problems of the same type.

here are screeshots and configuration

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

have you tried with the 'nice' settings? It'll be slow for you, but maybe it solves the problem. Then if it works, you can start lowering things till you obtain a playable speed, and eventually isolate the problem.

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

it might be a scratched cd or a bad ISO...

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

i tried almost everything with pete's d3d plugin, and others, tried nice settings, tried put everything turned on, everything off. i don't think it's a bad iso, cause it's not the only one game that shows that problem, megaman x6 showed it too (i deleted megaman, cause i don't have much hd space), i don't know what to try now, i am really lost...

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

Try using the d3d dx6 plugin, it might work better. If only i could try epsxe on my dad's comp cuz I think he has the same mboard.

Looking at the symptoms and the screenshots, I'd place my bets on the video drivers as well. Also, have you checked if those glitches also happen with a software plugin (Peops or E}I{)?

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

Hmm...BF3 is a 2D / 3D hybrid...so chances are this person wants the perty 3D effects. The easy way is to check your card drivers or shell out a few bucks for a low end graphics card of the ATI / NVidia variety. (Picked up a Geforce FX PCI $94USD cheap), but if money is of a concern you may want to try perhaps NickK's NextD3D. If that also fails perhaps your 850 Duron can handle P.E.Op.S with a flavor of 2XSaI...
argh..g-cards...they can make ya or break ya

I was just suggesting him to test with Peops to see if the glitches are gone, this way we could be 100% sure it's a GPU issue.

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

i tried d3d dx6 and showed the same thing

well, nikki d3d, solved the problem, but created new ones, the peops solved to, but peops is __SLOW__ and __UGLY__ and created some (minor) problems too
i'm trying to solve that without using money, cause i simply don't have

i tried with the drivers of motherboard cd, and the one that i got at pcchips site, both showed same thing

remembering, the glitches are gone using other plugins, BUT new ones show up, and the d3d pete plugin is faster than the others (and, leaving aside the glitches, the most beautifull one too)

thanks for the good will, and if anyone knows something that i could try, well, write

Re: help, breath 3, 2d grafics

Try going to the SiS website and see is there is a newer driver version there, although a new driver might not fix it but instead make it worse. The drivers that came with my comp was version 1.01 (SiS 530 vid. chip). When I upgraded to 1.08e, I lost all direct3d and directdraw support so I couldn't play any games with the new drivers :cuss2:. So make sure you have your driver cd handy in case some stupid thing like that happens.

edit: here is the link to SiS's drivers page. Click on the "I agree and would like to dl the drivers" button then select graphics for the category box, and integration chipsets for the sub category box. Then choose your chipset from the product list then select your os in the os system box. Hope this helps

Well, in this case, it's definitely the drivers. I know from previous experience that Breath of Fire III works perfectly with Pete's Plugins (heck, it was one of the first games to run perfectly with this plugin).
