Exclamation Xenogears: A little help for those stuck on the dream

I, for one, am overjoyed to have finally passed that awful scene. (Pardon me if this is useless. If so, do ignore me!) For the poor souls who cannot pass the first dream sequence no matter what or are too lazy to fuss around with the plugins, I have a memory card file that contains saves before and after the bug point. This is what happens between the lock-up and the next save point:

SPOILERS

Often, the lock occurs just after you see a little Fei under a spotlight. Another little Fei pops up behind "our" Fei and says something like "You don't belong here." then he wakes up. You appear in house with bunk beds. Fei asks the doctor (In the same room) where you are. The doctor is interrupted by three guys who come in and say you have to be "baptized". You learn that these "battlers" want you to meet the champ, a guy with green skin and orange hair. He and Fei introduce themselfves and we learn his name is Rico. Now, you are taken outside where the battlers explain things. You must fight them to get a rank which determines your freedom to some extent. The save I left you at is right before confronting them. Good luck! (That was a terrible summary. Writing was never my strong point, though.)

END SPOILERS

The file with Citan and Fei is unrelated to the situation. (Debug room) The one with Bart and Citan is at the point where you are able to save before the dream sequence. Lastly, we have the lone Fei file. That is the one just past the lock-up. To those who want to pass the scene, I recommend using epsxe version 1.2.0 with No Sound 0.4 and Kazzuya Software Driver 1.8 and play with the configuration. (I really don't know how well it works or if I just got a lucky break.) I do hope it's helped someone or two out there!

Why don't you just press F7 at the beginning of that dream scene?

BTW: I didn't encounter any problems in Xenogears, only when fighting Deus the first time.

Mwarf, every person that READ THE FUKING MANUAL knows that F7 fixes the dream sequence bug... oh, sorry, I forgot that reading a *.doc or *.txt files was so long and used some much RAM

Re: Xenogears: A little help for those stuck on the dream

Why would I want to forfeit my game and use your saves which have different level characters, different items etc when I can just press F7 before and after the sequence and continue through like everyone else?

READ THE MANUAL YOU KNOBS.

Read the manual, knew about the problem and got stuck at the dream sequence anyway. Pressing F7 did nothing for me. I had to use PSXeven to get past that part.

Re: Xenogears: A little help for those stuck on the dream

You have to press F7 before the video ( the one showing young Fei playing with a woman). Basically, what F7 does is disable the sound ( there maybe more to it though )

Yours,

Re: Xenogears: A little help for those stuck on the dream

Yeah, too bad, the sound is one of the most important thing in this sequence

Re: Xenogears: A little help for those stuck on the dream

It's a timer issue, an interrupt happens at a bad time and the emu just stops. Either use the F7 trick (which disables the root counter) or use another emu to pass this scene with full sound (PCSX or PS7)
