Ff9 Fmv

I'm running FF9 with ePSXe 1.5.2 on a 1GHz PIII and Voodoo 5 5500 AGP with Lewpy's plugin. Aside from a few minor glitches the game has been very playable. However, when a character is on screen and a FMV is playing in the background, the background is black. When the character leaves the screen, the FMV starts moving again. This is really annoying towards the end of disc 4. Anybody know of a 'switch' I need to use to have drawn characters and FMV at the same time?

No, I don't have that box checked. For some reason I was thinking it shouldn't be. I'll give it a shot and also take a look at your site. Appreciate the help and speedy reply.

Great picture. Not sure those settings will work with my Voodoo 5 5500, though.

I tried the Mask enabler but still no FMV behind the drawn characters. Sure wonder what sights I'm missing on disc 4.

Lewpy's has some effects Pete's HW plugins unfortunately don't display, yet, for example some extended blur effects.

Yep, I started out playing the game with Pete's OpenGL plugin but Lewpy's looked SEW much better with my Voodoo 5. Although, the game did run faster in OpenGL.

I'll try that framebuffer thing and see how that works out.

Many thanks!

Thanks, Kazsuya. Framebuffer set to write fixed the FMV problem. I think I turned it off to avoid the swirlys. Had to desable the Mask setting though because my computer would hang when I exited the game.

Thanks to all!

Just finished FF9 (complete with disc 4 FMV) and had a pretty good time of it. Not my favorite FF but it's not totally '***' like so many have said. I enjoyed it and will play it again someday.

Regardless, thanks to everyone who offered help on my config tweaks with Lewpy's Gilde plugin and my Voodoo 5 5000. I appreciate your time and knowledge.

So, what's next?!

Nah, just talking some fun. I'll play it again several months down the road. I'm already getting hooked up on Xenogears. Just met Elly and things are getting interesting. Nice legs...
