final fantasy VI (anthology) crashing..

when i go to start a new game in ff6, the emulator crashes as soon as i hit any of the directional buttons...any suggestions?

my config:

Plugin: Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.1.71

also..dunno if this will help but this is the error msg i get when the game crashes:

Opcode 3f UNK (PC 000ca748) (2185,139)

I'd hazard a guess at one of two things:

1. Some wierdo glitch with the gamepad setings:. Try mapping to the keyboard and make sure you run the game with the pad in digital mode (AKA pressing f5 once when the game starts).

2. Probably more likely, Your cd is fecked in some way. If so you might be able to fix this with an image file.

Oh BTW, 2d game + 3d plugin = V. Bad Plan. Switch to a 2d one instead (eg peops).

Right, esp. for FF6, but you can play FF origins with a 3D plugin without any problem
