FF9 : Character is *stuck*!!!

Hey everyone, i've encounted a rather drastic problem when running FF9 on ePSXe 1.5.2.

I've tried various plugins for the GPU (Petes OGL 1.7, 1.68, Soft plugin etc.)

I have even tried ePSXe 1.4.0 using my closest memory save.

I *still* am getting stuck in the same location everytime.

For those who know the game, I have just picked up Qu - the wierd looking guy who eats frogs - have found the entrance to the 'Outer Continent' - have been chased by gullotines by some wierd car with a drill at the front - and finally confronted by a bountey hunter who wants the princesses jewel.

After beating this little mini boss you head downstairs and see those bugs things which are used for transport and say 'maybe i can use that bug etc...'

(for a complete desc. go here : http://guides.ign.com/guides/12190/page_12.html
i am stuck right when i enter the room with the bug.

After this i CAN NOT MOVE. my character is simply stuck and will not respond to controls. Only pause works, or the reset by hitting all buttons, but i can't move nor raise the menu etc.

I am completely stumped, btw i use sph1001 bios.

Any help or a mem save just after this spot would be much appreciated.
