breath of fire 3.. no text?

Hello, I tried playing breath of fire 3, and everything seems to work ok, intro, menu etc... but when i get to naming my character and the ingame dialogue.. most of the text is not there and it seems to flicker in some areas where the text comes back briefly and disappears... perhaps other objects are missing too, i'm not sure I haven't played the game before. Sorry if this is a dumb question but this is my first time using a psx emulator

my graphic settings are

- Unfiltered FB: off
- Dithering: on

I did a search for breath of fire and nobody seems to come across this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

also when it opens up dialogue menu's when the characters speak... the entire game totally lags/slows down until the dialoge box is finished and then it returns to normal speed

oh well there is other things wrong with it like black lines around certain things... but i'm not picky... as long as its playable and i get the effect of the game

I can't support your options though... OpenGL plugin is waaaaay too slow for me

my comp is Pentium 3 800mhz 256mb ram, RIVA TNT2 32mb, i don't think theres any other things that apply lol. Could you adjust those settings to match my comp power? thanks for helping me out all of you guys,

hmmmm.... now no text at all... not even bits flickering in... seems to run a bit faster though... could it be the iso i have... i gather its not supposed to be talked about but i think you get what i'm implying... hopefully

i put the settings exactly to yours almighty bob btw... one thing i noticed is that mine still says DX6 and not DX7 like yours... did i do something wrong in installing the update? and could that be the problem... sorry for being such a pain

using the D3D as opposed to the DX6/D3D helps speed things up and some text comes back... but doesn't solve the problem... i'm gonna attach a screenshot of the problem... i'm also have to go to bed right now... please post any suggestions or ideas and i'll try them out and respond first thing in the morning, thanks again

Try to turn Palettized tex windows or Garbage collection off.

I don't think the TNT supports the faster palletised texture window settings... it might do in more recent drivers tho...
