No plugins should be slow with that setup.
But I suggest PEte's Open GL 1.68, Eternal 1.30 and Xeven's CDR 0.80

Mooby's plugin is for ISOs only. If you're playing the game from an image in your hd, then you can use it.
Xeven's cdr and P.E.Op.S cdr are both great plugins. You can try them both, choose the one you like. It's a matter of preference, since for me they offer the same performance.

>Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.55

We are currently on 1.68. Likelihood is that your other plugins are also outdated. Get the latest ones from www.ngemu.com/psx
Recommended: Pete's Hardeware accelerated plugins (OpenGL, D3D, D3D6), Eternal 1.30 SPU, and SaPu's CDR.

ePSXe doesn't need PAD plugins.... at least in Windows.

FF9? Is it the PAL version? If it is, then you need to enable the "Read subchannel" feature in the cdr configuration. Some cd drives can't read subchannels. In this case, you'll need a PPF patch. You can get more info visiting Kane's site.

I tried all the 2 CDR plugins (as many other guys, I think) and one point for the Xeven one is that it recognizes automatically PSX CDs in different CD-drives, as on my PC where I've a DVD/CD-RW combo and a Virtual Daemon. On the other hand, P.E.Op.S. is more configurable ATM.

Thx, bye

What's a good, fast Audio/SPU plugin for ePSXe 1.52? I think I'm running Iori's DirectSound 1.4 with DirectX 9 using a 1.7GHz P4m Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop with a 16MB Radeon Mobility 7500 and a kinda-unimpressive Crystal CS-4205 Sound chip. The setup runs Wipeout 3 in full speed and more at 1024/768 in OpenGL with all options enabled, but in games where heavy MDEC sound is used (Say...The briefings in Colony Wars, the cutscenes from Disney's "Tigger's Honey Hunt", audio briefings from my copy of Macross Digital Missions VF-X2 ISO and some of the sequences in FF7 and such) the game becomes rather choppy. What can cause some of the choppiness and how would I fix it? Can I assume a slow and out-of-date SPU, or perhaps just poor capabilities off my sound chip? Any comments on whether the Audigy PCMCIA cards would improve things by quite abit?

>fast Audio/SPU plugin for ePSXe 1.52?

Try Eternal Lite 1.3 and enalbe the Square games fix. Make sure SPU IRQ hack is off in the emu.
Failing that try running the game from an ISO

>me> thinks - Eternal plugin is great... but Lite ver realy sucks...

>me> talking - go for ePSXeSPUCore if you want good/fast plug, but if U want best & nice, very nice sound go 4 Eternal ("full" ver, not Lite)
>me> talking / >you> doing

I always use PEOP's Soft for 2D games, it makes the games look much better than the 3D plugins (with all the blitter options). But for 3D intensive games I prefer the 3D plugins.

And Eternal SPU is still the best for me. It's the only one that seems to reproduce the PSX sounds perfectly in almost every game.

to eyerule555:
yes, but it isn't an external one, the internal Run > ISO feature or ePSXe Have u already tried that?

Btw, Mooby CDR plugin now is v2.4, so, take the last one from Mooby's site, maybe it solves your problems.

Thx, bye

1. CDR - >me> think that using CDRMooby is good only in few situations e.g. U`re plaing game with sound in CDDA format (e.g Wipeout) or U want compres your CDImage, but if U don`t want to / dont have to use this functions "internal ISO plugin" ({File>Run ISO} command) will be fine.
2. GPU
a)>me> agree with brightman. Peops Soft Driver is the best 4 all kind of 2D games, they simply looks beter...
b)>me> have some objections about RageFury32 plugins configuration couse he said "16MB Radeon Mobility 7500 ...ble, ble, etc..... full speed and more at 1024/768 in OpenGL". >me> think that using Pete`s OpenGL on R7500 (and all ATI card) is`nt so good idea couse D3D plugs is more faster & "compatible" with that card(s). Simply games runs faster & without any glitches witch can hapened when U are using OpenGL plugs on Radeon Cards...
3. SPU >me> say again. If U`ve got good hardware use "Eternal SPU Plugin 1.30" - curently the best SPU plugin... if U haven`t got good hardware use "ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2.".... BUT never use "Eternal SPU Plugin Lite 1.30" < it realy sucks, music is OK but sound especialy in SquareSoft games (Xenogears, ChronoCross) are one big noise even if "Update before accesing register" option is enabled
