Question Cleyra problems, ff9

Okay, I read some other posts and I could'nt figure them out. Every time I enter the trunk at Cleyra it crashes;someone told me it might have something to do with savestates, but i don't know.
And to top it off I have no idea what this memory card is.Please help!

You don't know what a memory card is? How could you have been playing up to that point then?

Anyway, those who have encountered problems at Cleyra have said that you shouldn't use savestates in the game until after that point to bypass it, but I've used savestates and memcards in conjunction with each other, and the game didn't hang on me at that point.

...but, the first time I played it on VGS, it DID hang up on me, but it was bypassed by using games.txt

Thanks!
I thought the only way to save was to use savestates.
