XenoGears Froze on me

ok im not sure if im tha only one with this problem XenoGears froze up on me when i hit this scene. if any1 can help me i would greatly appreciate it. (see pic):

No, youre not the only one I think there is a fix for this part, you should browse the epsxe section.

As for you question, that would be the infamous "dream sequence".

taken from epsxe's manual

- As the Chrono Cross trick isn't necessary any more, we have assigned a new
trick to the F7 key, for the Xenogears dreams sequence: Press this key at
the beginning of the scene, and once again after the end

you'll encounter this prob also in disc two so save often.

basically, you enable the f7 trick before it switches to the fmv of fei playing with his mother, and then you can disable it after fei turn's around.
the only drawback is that there is no sound when the trick is enabled

You know.. I played through this part without needing the F7 key... huh...

I thought the dream sequence was the part when Fei was in the Capital of the northern country in the prison district and those people were being killed.

This is that part... actually kinda, the dream takes place right before Fei wakes up in the Kislev capital for the first time.
