MegamanX4-6...I have read the help file.

Okay, the music, obviously, is skipping. I know I have to add the '-noseekinxa' command line switch to get it to work.

However, when I enter my DOS prompt (I'm running Windows ME) and enter the commands, ePSXe complains that '-noseekinxa' is NOT a valid command switch.

What do I need to do to get this to work?

Also, a few select games--most notably Megaman 8 and Strider--run rather slowly. This is odd since I'm using an 800 MHz computer...double the 'recommended' clock speed. Is there a certain setting I have to change--perhaps the plugins--to remedy this?

You need to put a single quote around -noseekinxa (just like you have it here). In other words, C:\programfolderepxeisin\epsxe.exe '-noseekinxa'

As to your speed question, is this when using a software GPU or a hardware filtering GPU?

.

Oh, geez, I feel like a moron. >_<

Anyway the GPU I'm using is...*goes to check* "Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.45".

I believe that's a software plugin. Somebody else suggested to me that I should just force a certain framerate on the game to fix the slowdown problem. Does that sound like a good idea?

1.45? You need to download 1.66. It's an OpenGL plugin, which uses 3d hardware.

Better yet, go with getting the latest version of P.E.Op.S., a software GPU. You probably won't have much luck trying to get good speed in the games you mentioned with a hardware accelerator GPU like Pete's OpenGL plugin. Of course, downloading the latest version of Pege's OpenGL GPU is a good idea anyway for other games.

Well, part of the problem was that there was a framerate limit, which I removed. ^_- That helped a lot. I'll look around for the ones you mentioned, though.

Anyway, even after using '-noseekinxa', the music in X4-6 still skips. The sound plugin I use is Pete's MIDAS Audio Driver 1.7, though I've also tried the Core plugin and Eternal SPU Plugin 1.0 with a variety of options. Nothing works. My sound card is an SB Live! edition...so it's not like it sucks.

Again, is this with the updated hardware GPU or a software GPU? A hardware GPU is going to have problems with music unless you remove just about everything that makes using the accelerated GPU worthwhile. BTW, don't use Pete's MIDAS Audio Driver 1.7, it's old. Eternal SPU Plugin 1.0 you should update to 1.3 and then if you still have sound problems, fiddle around with the sound buffer size.

No, this was the same GPU as before. I'm updating my plugin, but I don't expect any more problems. (the GPU I have now runs admirably with the framerate limit gone...just not perfectly. I can live with admirable quite well, thank you. ^_-)

I'm getting these upgrades now. I will get back to this topic, if nothing else, just to thank you guys for your patience with me. ^_^

EDIT: Uh, the Peops version I'm getting is 1.8, September 5, 2002 vinatage, according to Sourceforge. This is the latest version, correct?

EDIT2: I did note the 'GPU plugin can sometimes cause sound problems' post. The only reason I can think to justify this would be the framerate slowdown. Am I just uninformed?
