FF7 sound problem with Eternal SPU

Ok my FF7 is running like a dream but everynow and then there is a small problem with the sound.
It is like the sound gets stuck and it just makes the most annoying repititive noise like "babababababaabaaababa". If i hit esc then continue the sound goes back to normal.
Is there any fix for this or am i gonna have to do that all the time this happens?

Cheers for any help

Try Pete's Audio plugin or ePSXe SPU Core. They work fine for me.

Which audio out mode do you use? That might be the problem...

BTW: j1188 - Never use these plugin with a FF game, because they mess it up.

Here's my current spu setup. Just ticked the boxes that sounded good. I have no idea of the best config for this. :confused:

Try enabling the SPU IRQ hack (the one on the Config Sound box)

Why did you turn on all the SPU IRQ hacks? Try it without those on, but leave the one for FF8 and FF9 and Some Squaresoft games.

do not turn on the spu irq hack like j1188 suggested. and in the enternal's spu menu turn off all the fixes you don't need them unless you playing one of those games.

I compared the core and Eternal SPU: The music in Tekken3 sounds e.g. much clearer on SPU Eternal.

- Increase the sound buffer in the plugin config to 30;

- Audio out mode - SPUasync, simple (this will prolly disable the 'wait for xa buffer is free' option, but no probs with that);

- Disable the SPU IRQ hacks in the emu;

(I have the one in 'Config Sound' window enabled, though probably it's not necessary).

as far as I know, this works without problems.

I use this config in a P4-M laptop with 512 ddr and an AC'97 audio chip, but haven't tested it in my P3 desktop. I'll try FF7 in the laptop now, as I've been playing only ff8 on it

UPDATE: sound's working perfectly in my machine with this config. please note that I did an ISO image of the game!

I don't like that SPU async option, because the sound in FF-games skips sometimes. I prefer the Timer option.

Sound and music are perfect in FF7 with using Eternal SPU for me! My configurations are based on default.
