FF8 Battle problem

Well i looked but i couldnt find any one espressing the same problems...

So:

Whenever i get into a battle on ff8, the lowest name in my party does not show up, nor their HP - their AT bar does, and it moves, but i dont see their name/hp

If they use a GF, the GF's name appears, the grey box is there, the AT bar counts down, and the HP is missing.

my comp stats are:
amd 1.1
256 ram
nvidia tnt2
win2k

and for my video stats

its probably a bit less than what i could run on, i just havent played with it much cause i was lazy
