Tekken 2 Problem

Sup everyone,
Im playing tekken 2 and it works pretty well but when i save the go to load my save state it quits!? whats up with this can someone help me please it would be greatly appreatiated

Don't Tekken games save on Memory Cards? Why do you use save states then?
