Xenogears disc 2 lockup *spoiler"

I'm on disc 2 of xenogears right after a fight with Id where Wiseman comes to help. In Fei's mind he's talking to Id and "the coward" and Id says that he's going to show me something, a movie starts to play but it locks up. I've tried the f7 trick and everything else I can think of. Has anyone found a way past this?

Some people find that using an earlier version of ePSXe (1.2.0) can help there, but the F7 trick is supposed to deal with that.

Hmm, is there a specific time that I need to press f7? Maybe I'll try to get 1.20. Are savestates from 1.52 compatable with 1.20?

No, save states are not backwards compatible AFAIK.
Yuo are meant to press F7 before the scene starts, and again, after it ends.

F7 finally worked, it took a few tries. I think I was doing it too early before. It's a good thing because my last memcard save was before the fight with Deus and I didn't want to have to luck my way through that again. Good story but I'm getting a little tired of the "read for 30 minutes, fight one battle, repeat" formula.

Then don't play it. Honestly, alot of people complain about the second disc, but guess what Xenogears is all about? The story, that's what Xenogears is about, and that's what the second disc has, the story. If you can't handle it, then quit and play another game and stop complaining. It's as simple as that.

Sorry, but I just can't stand people who complain about Xenogear's 2nd disc. I just had to get that off my chest.

Woah, woah, whoa. I wasn't complaining at all. Please don't misunderstand. I think that story's the most imortant part of any game. Xenogears is quickly becoming one of my alltime favorite RPGs.

Hey grahf! The second disc is horrible...sorry but had to get that off my chest

people are entitled to their opinion, especially when such a good game goes down hill game-play wise. After playing the second disc you feel that programmers didn't have time to finish game, and just threw together some non-interactive scenes just to complete the game...and this is what they sold me. What a waste of $40 bucks! (I bought the game back in '98 when it was brand new hehe...a little late to return it )

Hell I only played through the second disc just so I could finally finish the game, what a big disapointment that was

bah! that chu-chu...I hate that thing.

yes it's the same root counter problem that occurs in the first dreamsequence on disc 1. This can be easily passed by pressing F7 before and after the scene. (or use epsxe 1.2.0 or fpse 0.09).

Big hint!!!! when you see the B&W movie where Fei is playing as a child with his mother, press F7, this is fei dream sequence. It only occurs twice in the game
It also good to do alot of save states in this game it will save alot of pain and agony down the road
