Xenogears: Dream sequence and Why I'm Almost Insane
ALREADY SOLVED. For me at least.
I'll bet you already know what this is about. Why yes, it's the lovable dream sequence in Xenogears! I am just about at the end of my rope with this problem, so to speak. I have exhausted every resource I can imagine and it still won't work. Gone through all the related threads here to no avail, and I've tried pretty much everything(you'll see what I mean in a second.) Just so you see what I'm talking about I'll list them. I'll asterisk the stuff I'm going to try still and/or still have hope for(with your help). The reason why I post BEFORE trying the options I've mentioned is because A) they will likely take some time and B) I want to get the ball rolling on responses here because I have significant doubts as to whether they will work. - Tried to play through with ePSXe 1.5. Slowed up, then froze. No more options here. *- Tried to get VGS. Looked for nearly an hour and only came up with 1.4.1 demo. Loaded up the program, went to black screen, and froze. I'm going to try putting the CD in my other drive(the main one - I run it from my CD-RW because it's more reliable). and running it. Also need to find a way to get the demo to run memory cards, or to, uhm, get something that's not the demo. - Tried to get FPSE. Found (through great pains) a .dll it was whining about and loaded it... only to have it shut down without any error message. Yes, I configured it before hand. No more options here. - Tried ePSXe 1.4. No dice, same problem. No more options, as far as I can tell. *- Tried ePSXe 1.2. As far as I know, I'm the FIRST person not to get this to work. It did the EXACT same thing as 1.4 and 1.5. And I loaded from my memory card. My configuration is below, and here's the GPU plugins I tried. In 1.2: *- Tried my normal GPU, Lewpy's Glide. I have a Voodoo3 2000. Same deal, freeze, etc. I started from my memory card and went all the way through the sequence again, but it didn't work. That configuration is the first one below. *- Tried Pete's plugins. No go. *- Tried Kazzuya Software Driver 1.7. Started from a save state within the dream sequence but before the freeze. Didn't work. Next I'll try going all the way through from the memory card save but I doubt that will work. I would be infinitely grateful if someone would help me with this, perhaps by posting their 1.2 configuration. Finally, if we can't come to a solution in some way or another, I've put a zip of my memory card on an old site of mine. It has both VGS and ePSXe type cards on them, so you don't have to convert any. I consider this a LAST RESORT, A) because I don't want any of you to spend a good deal of your time on my problem and B) because I don't want to miss the rest of the sequence. If you do this, would you please savestate it right after the problem is over. Again, though, I only want this as a last resort. I really want to go through on my own. I just tryed your mem card file above and it doent work i keep getting the saveing failed message but i think i know why.
Your mem card file is saved at around 19hours while my game is at 12:30 hours and i think the file needs to be near 12 hours for it to be able to save for me i hope :'( |

Well, it wouldn't have worked anyways - that's the old file, before the dream sequence.
I reupped it for you. It's in both VGS 1.3 and ePSXe format. I only tested it on VGS 1.3 because I don't feel like toying with fate, and also it sounds like its a common problem you're having, not a xenogears related one. Ooh, hey, I can attach! Nice! If it doesn't like the attachment, here's the file. http://server2044.virtualave.net/gr....osaveafter.zip |

LuciferSam: Check thy email.
The rest of yous: If you can't use memcards(like Lucifer can't), use the following link for a savestate. It's in slot number 5, right after the sequence. It's about an average game - I purposely haven't gone uber item hunting because I want something to do the second time I play through. http://server2044.virtualave.net/gra...xenosstate.zip |

Forgive me, I may have missed something, but in all your attempts to solve this problem, did you try the F7 trick? Before the dream sequence starts presumably. Seeing that it was designed specifically for this problem, one assumes that it would work. One may be wrong though.

one thing... f7 wasnt implemented for xenogears when this thread was started... back then it was a previous version of epsxe... btw, how did you manage to find a thread more than 3 months old? Btw if youre expecting a reply from some of these people, youre most likely not gonna get one, for two reasons, 1 they havent come here in a long time, 2 theyve all been infected with the "guest" problem cause by the phantom poster bug
