Chrono Cross Disc 2 Error!

I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem or has addressed it. I read a few threads and basically only found graphical errors. Anyways, the problem I'm having is I've gotten to the Sea of Eden (Another World) and as soon as I go into a Fate Distortion, it'll go through it's text, and then it'll say [Insert Disc 2] and I'm using ePSXe 1.7.0 and using ISO copies of both discs. So when I press ESC and go to change disc, go under ISO and go to the second disc, all I get is a black screen and I even let it go for like 10 minutes and nothing.

Now I know there isn't anything wrong with disc too it loads up to the starting screen and such. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this same problem and if so, is there any solutions?

Copy the memory card to an older version of ePSXe, change the disc there and save on the second disc. Then copy it back to 1.70 and continue playing.
It's the only way, atm.

Well. I haven't used the memory card. no wait... that's not true I used it once and it saved but I went back to play from that point and it didn't work. I've just been using Save States to save throughout the entire game. soo same solution? just copy the save states to an older version of the emulator?

It worked for me with no errors multiple times, is your isos in .iso format? because mines .bin and .cue for disc 1 and .ccd,.img and .sub for disc 2... Also did you subchannel reading as well as trying another emu such as psx.

haha sorry to do this but could you explain that abit more clearly I don't know what sub channeling is. Also I have tried using other emulators but I haven't tried anything else yet.

I for the live of me, can't seem to get the memory card to save and KEEP it saved. it's odd. I'll have to monkey with the settings.

the format doesnt make a difference with this particular issue, even if it is a format like .iso. ive had it happen twice for two totally different games and it was with .bin/.cue images so i dont think the image format plays a role in this, its got something to do with the disc swap feature of the emulator when using game images instead of discs. the developers are aware of the issue and will probably fix it sometime in the near future.

you are probably not exiting out of the emulator correctly, you need to press esc while in-game, then from the GUI do file>exit. any other method (via task manager or closing the emulator via the X in the window) will either cause your data to be lost or corrupted. as for the subchannel reading, you need to have it enabled when you are running from a disc because the subchannel data is needed for games to work correctly. when using images you need to use a format like .bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub or mdf/mds. the one you want to avoid using is the .iso format because doesnt include subchannel data. so if you are using that format currently, make new images from your game discs and make them in one of the formats i just mentioned.

Well I downloaded them ISO images from a bit torrent. I don't have original copies of the games. So is there a way I can convert them, like with a conversion program or something?

Dually noted! Okay well I just saved with the memory card and I pushed esc, and exited the way you had mentioned, when back into the game, tried to load it and there was no data. Hmm... Perhaps something I did wrong? or it's not set up correctly or quite possibly it doesn't work?

ive seen several other people reporting about this very same issue myself and there is actually a thread about this issue in the epsxe beta section. this doesnt happen all the time, and i dont know why it happens for some and why it doesnt happen for others, but it is indeed some sort of bug with the disc swap feature of 1.7.0 when using image files.
