Problem with Valkyrie Profile

Everything works fine, just two errors:

1) if I press R2 to open the minimap, game goes into a black screen
2) if I go to the menu in battle, I can't use the first and last options, and all the rest make a cursor to select the character, but when I press X it doesnt select it, nothing happens. And I cant exit the menu with O, most importantly, so menu = freeze. I'm running an iso because my cd is somewhat scratched, so i dunno what's the problem. Any help will be appreciated ^^.

Oh im running 1.6 btw (tried with 1.5.2 but its the same)

what format is the image in? have you tried it on 1.7.0? post your plugin setup/settings and your system specs.

make sure you have an image that is in the correct format otherwise it might not work correctly. use formats like .bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub or mdf/mds. and just because your disc is scratched doesnt mean you cant still produce a fully functional image of it, try using a software like ISObuster or alcohol and read this thead on how to do so. a number of my games are in less-than-desirable condition but i have managed to get working images from all of them. so unless your disc has been run over by a truck or something you should at least attempt to do this with a few programs before giving up. if you really cant do anything with your disc i suggest you seek out a new copy on amazon or ebay because most of the time you will find the games you want at reasonable prices.

ok I shall try. In the meantime, I tried 1.7.0 but it says its missing zlib1.dll

Anyway im using these plugins for 1.6:
Video: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.12 (tried changing it to Pete's OpenGL but its the same)
Audio: ePsXe's SPU Core
CDRom: Pete's CDR ASPI/IOCTL Driver 1.0

You should search Google or this forum for zlib1.dll and place it in ePSXe's main folder.
