Problems with Dragon Quest VII

Durring the battles when i use special moves, the game sometimes stops loading, then starts up again after most of the battle happens. Like:

I select to use flame slash
the text shows "Kalmana uses flame slash"
The game stops loading
The game loads up again
then it either ends the battle sequence or it skips where it shows my attack and the damage it has done

any tips?

Does this always happen with a certain move or certain moves or does it happen randomly?
It could be an issue with the disc/image.

ok that box to the left of the "special game fixes" part near the bottom of the 1st shot needs to be ticked before anything you have enabled in the 2nd shot will work. other than that your settings appear to be fine.
