Metal gear solid

Hi,
I have been playing metal gear solid on ePSXe for a few days and I have reached the point where you have to change discs. When it says to I open the CD tray and change the discs, I do but nothing happens. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks

to change discs you press "esc" to go back to the GUI, then go to file>change disc>cdrom/iso (depending on what you are playing from). i think what you are probably doing is just opening the drive while in game and putting the 2nd disc in like you would with a real psx, which is not what you want to do. what you want is to exit out and go back to the GUI like i mentioned first and then do the swap disc thing from there.

That fixed the changing disc issue but now once i have changed the disc there is no sound and when i try to save it seems to crash. The no sound after pressing escape thing has happened before so i don't think that was caused by the disc change.

this is likely related to you spu plugin/settings so if you could post what you are using i can tell you what you probably need to change. if you can tell me what cdrom plugin you are using that would be helpful as well.

ive seen a few people who have said if they exit out to the GUI, intentionally or not, the sound is either messed up or missing upon returning to the game when they do the run>contiune. from what i know, if you keep exiting back and going to run>continue and doing it over and over again the sound eventually returns to normal but dont quote me on that, ive never had this happen to me and im just going off of what i have been told by other users. metal gear is one of the harder games to get working correctly, i suggest you also read over this thread.

i suggest you use the eternal spu 1.41 plugin with the settings i use for it, also in the spu selection menu there should be 4 boxes, you want to have the top 3 enabled and the 4th disabled. you must have some sort of cdrom plugin in use because unless you are playing from images, you would not be able to play the game without one.

now just so you know, i do not have the psx version of MGS, i have the pc version. so while i think my settings will be fine (they work fine for every game i have and ive never had to modify them for anything), it is still possible that they may not work for this particular game because it is rather nitpicky when it comes to plugin configs and if that is the case i suggest you read over that thread i posted earlier with the various other MGS config suggestions. if all else fails, use another emulator like psx or pcsx. anyway my eternal settings are:

audio device- directsound
buffer size- 64
audio-out method- thread
all 3 special game fixes enabled
"wait for XA buffer is free" enabled under the "misc" section
neill's reverb

can you also post your system specs?
