epsxe160 Question

Been working great for me for a few months now... then suddenly, out of the blue, it's now running slower than normal. Game input is slower, and the music - emu of the actual game is slower. I'm using standard ISO's, have no viruses on my pc, and have a pretty decent system (amd athelon x2 4200+ 2gb 800mhz ram, GeForce 8600gt 512mb)

Any ideas what this would be about?

I believe it could be attributed to some sort of memory leak... My processor is spiking to >= 50% during emu process.

try setting epsxe's cpu affinity to 1. and cpu usage like that is normal.

Already tried that... Doesn't change anything. As I've been trying to troubleshoot this, it seems my pc won't recognize my ps3 controller anymore - for no apparent reason. 3 days ago, I was using it just fine... honestly, from a technical standpoint, this makes no sense >_<

have you made any driver changes (for anything) recently? what O/S are you using? what about plugins, what are you using and what settings are you using with them? have you tried another emulator out to see if this is happening with something other than epsxe as well?

No driver changes
xp pro sp2
===
Plugins
===

Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.7 - Video
Pete's DSound Audio Driver 1.15 - Sound
Xeven's Cdr Driver 0.93 - CD Rom
SCPH1001.BIN - BIOS

Haven't tried another emu, because the problem seems to be a memory leak - only reason it's lagging is that my processor ranges from 55%-98% usage during the emu.

EDIT: On trying to check out my plugins for epsxe, I receive an error box "Unable to locate Component 'WNASPI32.dll'" Never had an issue with not having it before, but do you think that could attribute to it?

EDIT: I'm also using a ps3 sixaxis controller for the emu - which works fine, but doesn't seem to be working anymore. PC's not recognizing it, and as a result, the controller isn't auto-assigning itself to (0).

'WNASPI32.dll'

'WNASPI32.dll' is a third party application extension file which epsxe uses as an interface and should, therefore, be in your C:Windows/System32 folder. System registry changes can misplace the file or cause it to be unactable. Just replace the file or search online for correct instructions on how to.

negative dominic, wnaspi consists of dll's and a sys file, it is easier to download the adaptec aspi installer and run that, if you have an nforce system and use the nforce swide drivers you will need to replace wnaspi32.dll in system32 with the one from nero's packages.

Thanks much for the advice - I am using nforce drivers on my system. I fixed the issue - it was a combination of the audio/video drivers erroring. To fix the issue, I manually adjusted the framerate to 50fps, and changed some audio syncing issues. Full load on the processor game is only using 40%. So, now that everything's working, imma see about getting some more games!

Thanks again guys

Sidenote: wnaspi isn't necessary for epsxe to run, nor to function correctly. My system works fine, and I've been missing that dll since I installed the mobo drivers.

oh, of course not, epsxe and the various plugins come in both ASPI and IOCTL forms, some even support both. ASPI is only needed for Win9x.

btw, Having AA enabled in the nvidia control panel or ati control panel will instantly kill performance.
