hola guys,
been playing through ff9 again recentally, and just thought id stock up on potions (currently level88) before the last part.. so, i enter the black mage village.. and get a random game crash upon trying to leave. so, i boot the game back up, and try again. same thing tried editing some of the hex thru a gameshark (yes, i do know what im doing ^^) but to no avail. and as i relly entierly on Savestates this has left me rather screwed for a 50 hour save -.- anyway, if anyone has a clue what to do about this error code id love to know, its the Dos window in the included screenie in blackmage village, Disc 4 also, im running the game from Iso files since i dont actually have a CD drive on this rig. burnt from my original discs tho, just they're a bit too scratched to work properly anymore (although Disc 4 has 0 scratches so its not a bad ISO problem as i've tried 3 burns just to be sure) ![]() **specs** 3.2ghz p4 proc 2 gig ram 128 ati radeon card, overclocked to 743 clock speed 4x 120gb HD's. space ftw ********* also, i keep hearing things about "if you dont Epsx properly it fooks your saves"....... please tell me this isnt true, since i alt f4 out of it 99% of the time Last edited by angelus6; April 16th, 2008 at 04:50. |

it is true and what we mean by that when we say it is that you dont want to exit out of epsxe simply by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner of the window, doing that will usually mess up your saves. if it doesnt consider yourself lucky. to exit out correctly you need to hit "esc" and then in the GUI go to file>exit. that is the only correct way to exit out, any other can and usually will compromise your data.
as for the problem you have, there are several things that could trigger an opcode error but im going to jump ahead a little and say this particular one might be the result of a corrupted save state. i say this alot and i cant stress this enough, do not ever ever ever rely on save states alone and use them as a primary saving method. you need to use memory card saves and your data that way and then if you really feel you need to, you use save states as a backup or temporary thing. this is the kind of stuff that happens when you dont and you can obviously see now that it isnt very fun. now as i said before, opcode errors can be caused by several things, so if it isnt your save state at fault, then try switching your video plugin with something else. also make sure your image was made right and done in the correct format.

ahh its all good now.
thanks to some lucky hex editing i've worked out the CHecksum override to load corrupted data. (if anyone else has this problem, code is below) D01F982C DEFE 801F9836 2400 pop that into a gameshark and it'll load anything you like
