Crash Team Racing from *snip*

Hokai, so, I have downloaded CTR from *snip* on the Sony PlayStation ROM section.

You follow me?

I download the file (which takes like a billion years), save it and open up ePSXe.

Then, I run the ISO and it shows Sony Computer Entertainment America etc. with no sound.

Oh, don't worry, there's sound, but it's completely funged up (whatever "funged up" means)

So I change my Audio Plugin from P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 to Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 and enable everything.

The sound is now fine, but then I start in adventure mode, the Voodoo mask appears to brief me on what I have to do in order to complete the game without opening his mouth. When he finishes, he doesn't go away. I press the buttons frantically in order to cancel this and continue, but nothing happens. Then I hear the sound tests of the different characters and a bunch of nerds saying "Oxide Finish Second". Whenever I start a normal race, the music from Spyro 2 comes on (I assume this is from the demo, which I cannot access because none of the cheats work on this stupid NTSC version). Someone else has to have this problem?!?!?!?

Will getting the PAL version of this game help?

Plugins:
Video: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.17
Sound: Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41
Bios: Scph1001 (I've tried with 7502 but not 101 yet)

What exactly is my problem? And what exactly is my problem with the game?
