Vagrant Story [PAL] Problems

I bought the german version of Vagrant Story and try to make it run.

I don't have any problems with other games, sound is also nice, but i have problems runnign vagrant story.

The Game itself is loading without an problem, but as soon as i click new game, i get loading screen and then nothing happens

Because i use an external DVD drive, i have to use an .iso file.

First i created an .iso with clonecd how i always do (never had problems with other games), i run the game -> game hangs up on the loading screen.

Then i used DAEMON Tools to create an image, loading the image with an virtual drive, starting the game from virtual drive -> game hangs up on the loading screen. I changed the CDR Plugin, now i use Peopes CDR Plugin.

I created a subchannel file from the .sub file CloneCD created, choose to read subchannels from this file, and run the game again -> game hangs up on the loading screen.


I downloaded the game from some torrent tracker (NTSC version, SLUS-01040), and just make run iso -> game runs without a problem

What im doing wrong? I wanna play my original game i just bought and not the illegal downloaded .iso =(

Any suggestions?

Ok, WOW.

No i've choosen Xeven's CDR Plugin - all with default options -> Game runs without a problem (till now)

But i still wanna know what the hell is up with this game, I NEVER had ANY problems with any game before, and Vagrant Story nearly made me crazy.

im going to ignore the downloaded game part for now considering you have your intentions set towards getting your own copy working, for the future though i recommend not doing such a thing because you will lose the ability to get support here. anyway, i suggest patching your PAL copy with a .ppf patch. since i do not live in an area that sells PAL copies, i have never used one or have to apply a .ppf patch or anything like that myself so i know little of the process. this is also why the version you downloaded starts up without a problem, its NTSC and those versions do not have the copy protection found in PAL versions (i am NOT suggesting you use it though, i am merely pointing out the main difference here). i suggest reading the FAQ for more on how to do this and where to get them because i believe there is a link in there somewhere.

Well ok, then the problem with this .iso I created is the copy protection.
I dun understand why ppl who buy the original aren't able to play, and it is easyer to get an illegal download. This is stupid

I never had to use a .ppf patch, i sucessfully ran nearly every game, FF7 - FF9, even Dino Crysis 2 which i know it had an copy protection ran without a problem.


Well ok, for now, i got my original working, but i have some lil problems, sound isn't that good, and i wanna use my old plugins, it seems that I get blamed for buying an original =(


But thx, i'm gonna reading the FAQ and maybe i can get this .ppf patch you mentioned.

if you are having trouble with the sound post the sound plugin you are using along with the settings you are using with it.
