tenchu/FF7 Black screens.

Ok. ok. I've dug out the old FF7 and Tenchu cds.
BUT, I get a black screen when I try to load them.?
Same thing happens with pSX. I'm using the default cd rom drivers, and several different sound and vid drivers to no avail.
I really want to try out FF7 with all the visual upgrades only available through emulation drivers.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated...!

Try to rip ISO images off your CDs and use an ISO plugin to load them

same problem, tho the cds and the ripped iso's work with some other ps emulators. But not fully.
but that is prob because the other emu's aren't that great, rather then a bad rip, or read.

ahhh. This is stressful, I just got a wireless 360 controller and have been using it to game on my pc, wanted to use it with some pc games, especially some classic ps rpg's!!

.iso
.bin .cue
.mds .md5

I'm trying it all, no success. I'm starting to believe the images and discs are fine.
There's prob one weird setting that's off.
The console gets to "Open spu..." and then hangs, black screen. ePSXe goes into around 45-50% cpu util at that point (on a dual core).

different computer has different system.at least FF7 is playable without black screen in my computer.the best things to check is try to run BIOS only.after pass it without problem than just trying to enable/disable each plugin.as U say that PSX and EPSXE has the same black screen than your problem likely MAYBE due to your system.maybe if you try running it on another computer(if any-with the nearly same spec and system) and it works, then it due to your system.
and one more things... and your spec is?

edit: one more thing to try
- if you enable 'hardware' mode in GPU then try 'Software' mode (in my opinion it has more compatibility over one)

post your video plugin and video plugin settings. also set epsxe to be used by only one cpu core when in use otherwise you will likely get performance issues.

ok you should probably switch to a d3d or software plugin, ATI users are limited in their plugin choices because right now there is a really bad issue between certain ATI drivers and OGL plugins. i suggest reading this thread and see what other ATI users suggest doing or see if there are any work-arounds that have been found.

btw someone else mentioned running the BIOS to see if anything shows up, have you tried that yet?

im having a problem with ff7, the game runs fine, then when i get into a battle, it freezes for about 4 to 5 minutes, then continues as normal,
i heard they work better when you run them from ISO rather than a disc,
so im trying that now, but the problem is still there
any suggestions?

post your video plugin and its settings as well as your system specs. next time make your own thread instead of hijacking another.

No driver so far is working, whether soft, D3D or openGL 1 or 2.
I'm guessing it's another issue.
Is ePSXe still actively being developed? I'm a comp sci major, and if I could have the source, I'd to help try and debug any issues.

yes its in active development right now, 1.7.0 is in the works at the moment but i dont think they are doing this open source, you would have to talk to one of the developers on that one. i suggest using the ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2. cdrom plugin if you decide to play from the disk and eternal spu 1.41 for your sound. are you sure you are making your images right? have you followed one of the guides in this thread?

how are you loading them then are you mounting them on a virtual drive software like daemon tools? if you are you need to make sure the cdrom plugin in use is looking towards the virtual drive you have it mounted on and not your physical drive like it usually is by default.
