no, he can't fix it, driver modders are nothing of the sort, all they do is modify the info that is set to the registry by default, a real driver modder would decompile the system file and attack the issue directly...

As far as i care, AMD is no longer providing full opengl 2 compatibility.

Not fixed in 8.4 either in the release notes there was something mentioned about no opengl on the 3600 series cards, but I couldn't find the knowledge base article 737-33467.

Sad.
I don't know what to do about it. My Radeon 2900XT is a very good card, and I paid quite a lot for it and beside these things it delivers the goods as they say(Runs Crysis and co. admirably).
I don't won't to turn to Nvidia because every time I had an N card I regretted it later.(the cards themselfs were awful and I couldn't really ask for support)
but if Ati's have deteriorated that badly that they can't even solve an driver problem I feel like I've wasted money. there isn't a third, secret uber GPU company out there, is there?

Hd2400

Hi today i tested if Epsxe runs with my Mobility HD2400 in OpenGl Modus

and it did well with pete opengl2.7...only the triangle effect was there ...

Could it be possible that the Dx6d Plugin would do a better job without triangles or is the OpenGl Plugin recommended ?

I am experiencing the black triangle issue as well. Unfortunately going to Pete's D3D 1.76 creates an unacceptable slowdown during certain rendering processes, Im stuck troubleshooting the OGL/OGL2 drivers until I can get it working.

AMD 780G chipet (onboard integrated HD3200)
Windows XP SP2
Catalyst 8.4
EPSXE 1.6

Since rolling back my drivers won't be an option, I'll try the suggestion of dropping in the ogl files from vile's post and see if that works.

22point8, did you tried running ePSXe to see whether the tringles were gone? I just got an mail from Ati claiming that the 8.4 might solve Ogl problems. Im currently too busy to try it my self, but im planning to try reactivating my old PC(with an X800 card) too see if it works)

AMD has broken the compatibility with opengl 1.1 specs! Pete's OGL 1.76 don't use 2.1 extensions at all! It can run (at 2 fps or less) even if you disable the ICD driver, using the opengl32.dll that came with Windows...

I've tried that as well, and it had this greenish picture.
at least the triangles weren't there.
what a dilemma, playing a game with 2fps or normal but with these wretched triangles of hell. I think i'll choose the 2fps option...

Yeah, I tried it, still has triangles, speed wise things aren't bad, never have been. By the way the attached screenshot is OpenGL 1.76 plugin, looks the same on OpenGl 2.8 not that I'd try a Metal Gear game with that plugin anyway, apparently it cause all sort of trouble.

I have some news.
I think I have nailed the final coffin on this matter(you could all call me triangle slayer )
I have meneged to bring my old PC up and running. it is an:
Intel P4, 3.0Ghz
Intel D-865Perl Mainboard
Radeon X800
a freshly nstalled WinXp
I have tried Drivers 7.4 8.3 and 8.4.
7.4 worked perfectly while the later two showed the triangles.

Degeon, did you see that I edited my last post, there is a new leaked driver that fixes the triangles and apparently fixes stuff in recent pc games as a bonus http://www.station-drivers.com/page/ati%20catalyst.htm the leaked 8.49 drivers fix the problem (at least in my testing so far!) build date of April 10th, 4 extensions added, OpenGL driver 6.14.10.7536.

This driver fixes the triangle issue (yay!), but it also installs a lot of unnecessary files such as TV tuner stuff unless you are careful.
