Got Catalyst 8.10 from here WHQL signed. New OpenGL extensions. The OpenGL version is 2.1.8086 but I found a newer one so installed that seperately. Put atio6axx.dll in your sys32 folder if you have 64bit, put atioglxx.dll in your syswow64 folder. If you have 32bit just put atioglxx.dll in your sys32 folder.

Thanks for sharing! It worked just flawlessly, however I put atioglxx.dll in the main folder of the ePSXe (near the exe file). Surprisingly, the newest Catalyst (8.9) does not work as expected (still black triangles visible)

all i can suggest is to roll back to a previous driver version and see if it fixes the problem. if it does then you will probably want to avoid using 8.12 with epsxe.

Sounds like a video memroy allocation bug to me

From reading
Here: AMD Game Forums - opengl problems still not fixed (ATi please understand that video memory, believe it or not, it is important)

Now that the drivers are Opensource, for Linux and whatnot, would dev community be able to fix?

the memory issue is worked around by defining the memory manually

also, D3D plugins have major issues on Radeon cards (its in the plugin faq)

maybe I should have stayed with my Radeon 9700 Pro. No weird triangle **** with it.

David

P.S. Anyone try the new 9.3 drivers yet? My system still not up and running yet... otherwise I'd do it myself.

wow, they're STILL at it? geez...
It's so sad that such a great company falls on such a 'tiny' yet important little thing. I honestly thought of buying the Ari Radeon HD 4780X2...now I'm not too sure

Just thought I might make a note that the problems are not fixed with the newer catalyst drivers as far as ff8 goes anyways I got the 4870 with the newest drivers and still have the same issues as before with it.

Well researched some more in the matter it seems they brooked it only in the latest drivers, in 9.9 it still worked. So i'm gonna try and send a email to them.

As for the ones that have the latest drivers (catalyst 9.10), a temporary fix would be to either place atioglxx.dll in the epsxe dir (or whatever app based on opengl you might use and encounter problems with) or (this method is for X64 based system) you could just put atio6axx.dll in system32 and atioglxx.dll in syswow64 if you want all your opengl based apps to use this dll's (but backup before replacing just in case) (for x86 just drop atioglxx.dll in system32 but like i said backup before replacing). I put two attachments one for vista/7 and one for XP. Though as a warning this issue has only been tested and encounter in windows 7 i didn;t test to see if it also happens in Vista and XP.

Here are the files:

atioglxx.dll & atio6xaa.dll for windows 7/vista

atioglxx.dll & atio6xaa.dll for windows xp

Thanks for the info strike105x!
I had some flickering problems. The atioglxx.dll from version 9.8 fixed it. The files you linked on mediafire are removed by the way.
If someone needs it, I downloaded the old catalyst fom oldapps.com. Then if you don't want to install it you can extract it from the install files. There is only a atioglxx.dl_ wich you can unpack with windows' expand.exe program. Start a command line window, navigate to the directory wich contains atioglxx.dl_ and type "expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll" to extract it there.
