*Facepalm

Basically, you are admitting to piracy yourself. You won't get any help here either.

Soul Silver and Heart Gold US Versions are already out, it's crashing too.

Peh13 March 15th, 2010 02:46

Yes. Mine too, used to crash in the intro. I just did what you guys were telling. And it's working... The only problem is that it randomly crashes... Any how-to-fix's? :p

Smilley March 15th, 2010 02:56

None yet.

nator March 15th, 2010 03:04

The random crashing doesn't seem to be fixable. The best thing to do is to save often.

Also take a break every half hour and close the the emulator so it can do a hard save.

The last thing you want to happen is if you were playing for 5 hours straight, saving regularly, then the emu crashes. You reload to find out that you're back in New Bark town. Don't forget to say hi to your mom.

the game is attempting to access an area of memory that its not capable of doing on retail DS hardware

emulators and flash carts allow this access attempt which triggers a gradual lockdown of the games functions.

Desmume is not emulating the address redirect correctly.

Well, Nintendo recently have added code to their latest SDK which lets flashcard developers add a check to their game to see if the game is running on a flashcard. Though it is up to the developer or not to use the code. Though since its in the SDK, the code itself is the same with every game and thanks to this, has made patching it relatively easy now. So its a matter of searching the games memory for the routine and patching it as the memory location of the routine is different every game.

Now what this code does is well, rather simple. It does a check for a memory region of the game below 8000h. On a normal DS game, if the game tries to access the memory below the 8000h range, it gets redirected to 8000h + offset. So for a real DS game, its impossible to access that memory which isn't true for a flashcard. So on a flashcard, if the check detects it can access that memory range, it returns true. Now its up to the developer on how to implement if the check returns true or false so how its handled differs for each game. Some games delete your saves while others prevent you from saving and some cause the game to show a screen after playing for a certain amount of time.
part of AP found.

When I open up any of the two games with No$GBA 2.6 and No$Zoomer my character (and any other character in the game) all look like TVs .

Am I the only one with this thing?

What to do?

goku262002 March 15th, 2010 18:29

So this game is basically playable but an infuriating headache to play because of random crashes? *sigh* looks like I'll have to wait to play this game. maybe a month or 2 from now someone will have this all figured out.

Why are things soo much more complicated with the DS? I miss the old days when GBA games were emulated without many problems. worst we had that i knew of back when FR/LG/R/S/E were still new was the clock and "battery dead" problem. Now we got faulty emulators, lockdowns, BSOD/crashing, BIOS and firmware problems and many many other problems. Just sounds like a huge headache just for one game.

I'm sure an update to NO$GBA would fix all this (maybe?) but like that is ever going to happen...Guess i'm just a man from a time that has passed.

Black Screen of Death...

I am trying to run this on my system with no$zoomer and the correct files for rom and bins ... I ripped them off my nds myself. Every time i load the soulsilver it gives me a black screen either on loading a save game from my nds or from creating a new game... I cannot see anything...

Running windows 7... quadcore... 4 gigs ram... Nvidea 9400

Squall-Leonhart March 15th, 2010 19:58

use desmume instead.

its the only emulator which affords playability past gym 3.

Donixs March 15th, 2010 19:59

There is a fix for NO$GBA only, not sure how good it is compared to the Desmume

AhhZerglings March 15th, 2010 20:50

Using No$Zommer, I can't save my "save state" while playing Heart Gold. It keeps saving as 00:00:00 and when I went to reload it; it started at the beginning. How do I fix this?

shadowgamerlapy March 15th, 2010 20:55

No$gba doesn't support Save States...Desmume does :D

Lex_Light March 15th, 2010 20:57

That function's only for backuping the saves. ;)
