Does the "Save Battery File" option in no$zoomer actually do anything?

I spent about 30 min getting lost and picking up items in the Whirl Islands. I was saving periodically and I reloading the rom after the usual freezes. I'm sure I was also used save battery file a couple of times in the cave.

When I finally got to Lugia's room, the emulator crashed. When I reloaded my game, I was back in the Pokemon center.

Is there anyway to force an emulator crash to test if the save batter file thing has any affect?

ozzgx4 March 25th, 2010 17:44

Thats weird, it should work. save game->save battery file

ch0sen March 25th, 2010 22:35

You can force emulator crash by using Reset

mrbow March 25th, 2010 23:15

Guys, just letting you know what i've experienced (so it may help others).
I encrypted my dumped rom with eNDryptS Advanced.
I used the Action replay to pass the black screen:
020DE16C E1A00000
020D3FA8 E1A00000

After that, it crashed for me on the first battle vs Heart (when going back from Mr Pokemon with the egg). - And luckily i had just saved before that battle.
What did i do next? Used the start emulation using the bios, and re-opened the rom (as reset doesn't quite do the trick). And turned off the action replay cheat, and loaded my saved game.

Now it seems it doesn't crashes, i got pass the girl teaching how to use pokeballs battle just fine (some times it slows down but still no crash).

The saving crash i believe is misinterpreted, when saving, like the game says, it's saving "a lot" of data, it takes a while, it doesn't crashes. i use the fast forward function on no$zoomer (+ sign [not on numpad] or Fn button [function] + the "+" button you find near right shift if you're using a notebook like i am).

also i have the bios files under no$gba folder.
And i'm playing SoulSilver.

Guess that covers it, hope it helps.
EDIT: missed some facts x)

EDIT2: It just randomly crashed while grinding. FFFFFUUUU

Damn, with BIOS or codes it seems there is no way to play this game with out randomly crashing?

correct?

Wrong

Smilley March 26th, 2010 01:23

Is that so? You have a miracle-cure? Please, tell us then!

Arthuria99 March 26th, 2010 01:58

If only i can, the mod won't allow me to provide link in this thread, PM me if you want, i always having a problem after getting the 3th badge but now i've reached 6th gym safely

Smilley March 26th, 2010 02:12

If it's that one Youtube-vid, then I know about that and it doesn't help jack with the random freezes.
If it's not and the link doesn't include anything against board rules, you might as well post it.

Arthuria99 March 26th, 2010 08:15

Random freezes may still occur but in extremely-low rate, so far freezes only occured 3 times and, at first i always had a problem after getting the third badge, the rom crashes every 3 events, it's almost impossible to play.

This game works in No$GBA 2.6a + No$Zoomer 2.3.0.2 + the BIOS & Firmware.bin (as you know, the only way to get it legally is dumping it from your DS). Anyway, you need to do the following:

- First, open any game (HG or SS). Go to No$GBA --> Options --> Emulation Setup (or with F11). On the Reset/Startup Entry point choose GBA Bios (Nintendo Logo) and click OK.
- Now go to No$GBA options again and click SAVE OPTIONS. This way you won't have to do it everytime you start No$GBA.
- This is very important, go to File -> Open on No$Zoomer or simply press F12. Open your game again. RESET function won't work, as you will get a rom image crash.
- Choose your game just like you would do it on a real DS.

This way the game won't freeze after the Prof. Oak talk. So far saves and runs fine, Dunno it it will freeze at some other point.

Cheers!

Edit. If you don't use No$Zoomer, you will need to use eNDryptS Advanced (google for it). Put the rom file in the same dir as the program and run it. Choose the first option. Now you can run the game with No$GBA 2.6a using the steps above (otherwise the rom image will crash). This is not required if you use No$Zoomer, but it still works anyway.

You know, I've just been looking for information about that one problem. I'll try this out. Thank you.

Hello.

Hello everybody. I have the problem with the screen freezing on my r4 on soul silver.
I tried to downlaod several version of the games but none resolved the problem. and the screen freezes every 6-7 events, that is to say a lot!
I tried to see if the problem appeared sooner in the discussion (with the r4) but I don't think so.
What can I do? Is there a patched version I can use?
Thanxs for answering!

You won't get any cause you downloaded games...Please read rules before posting ever again..

ozzgx4 March 30th, 2010 12:25

Downaloding games is illegal and against forum rules...
Edit:shadow beat me to it XD

shadowgamerlapy March 30th, 2010 12:44

1 minute late Ozz :D

Patch is here :D
Download it here..How to use it is written in that thread...It loads your save from non-patched game...I used and didn't have any freezing so far :D

Zinou March 30th, 2010 14:05

Oh sorry I didn't used the right words. -_-
But thx for the link.

laughin man March 30th, 2010 17:52

Could anyone give me a good discription of how to "save battery file"?

Can't seem to find that option anywhere... oO

shadowgamerlapy March 30th, 2010 18:13

When you save in-game, if you are playing it with No$Zoomer click File-> Save Battery (output) file...That's it :D

D1M1TR1 March 30th, 2010 18:15

To be clear, save the game as you would do on a real DS, then use the Save Battery option. This will effectively write the modified save data to the save file, without needing to exit NO$GBA or reload (not reset) the game.

mrbow March 30th, 2010 18:16

its only available on no$zoomer.
just go to File>Save battery File.

you could also assign a key for it on Other>key assignment.

and go to this thread:
http://forums.ngemu.com/no-gba-discu...patch-usa.html

its a patch that its correcting the freezes for most the people.

EDIT: oh yeah, don't forget to do what the guy above said, you must FIRST save the game normally and then use the save battery file, just using the save battery will do nothing.

shadowgamerlapy March 30th, 2010 18:18

3 guys said same thing :D
I already posted that link if you haven't saw ;)
