I need some help.

I downloaded this [lang. hack] Pokémon HG / SS USA Freeze solution - GBAtemp.net and the game worked fine until it crashed while I was in Sprout tower. Now, when I restart No$GBA again and try to load my last save (I saved just before it crashed), it loads my first (or second) save, which I made in New Bark Town after 5 minutes of playing.

What should I do to get my last save back? Before that new patch No$GBA couldn't remember my saves at all after crashes, it only tried to start a new game... Now I have always copied my save file from Battery folder to the other folder after saving, but when I tried to insert the copied file back to Battery folder, it still starts from New Bark Town. Before that crash it could load my last save. Please help me.

PS. Sorry my bad english. :???:

Did you ever exit no$gba before your last save?

shadowgamerlapy March 20th, 2010 20:25

Well he could use No$zoomer and use it's option Save battery file...that way, your save won't be deleted when game crash :D...But first you must save in-game, then click Save battery file option in File menu ;)

I think I did it just after that first save.

Then too bad for you as no$gba really save any in game save after closing it or by using no$zoomer option... refer to stickied faq point 8b

I tested the patch and it doesn't work on no$gba without random in game-freezes. The author of the patch claimed that he can't fix the in game freeze on the no$gba. So lets keep waiting for a proper ap fix.

shadowgamerlapy March 20th, 2010 22:24

I have those random freezes and I don't think that it's big problem...I mean, just save often :p

raiy0 March 20th, 2010 22:30

shadowgamerlapy what are you using just the black screen codes or the bios ?

nanaya March 20th, 2010 22:40

Hmm too bad, at this point if even months old japanese version of SS/HG is still crashing on no$gba then I don't think it'll ever get fixed without emulator update.

Time to move on to Desmume folks.

Lex_Light March 20th, 2010 22:42

But some people have a bad computer which doesn't get good speed in Desmume... :(

raiy0 March 20th, 2010 22:54

I would love to move to desmume, graphics are sweet and i have a fairly good pc. But I love the no$zoomer + turbo mode its to good to leave behind :P

No codes, just bios and firmware :D
And I would like to move to desmume, too, maybe, but how do I get that Desmume opens my save from No$gba...I always forget that thing :heh:

There's "import backup memory" option for that purpose. ;)

1. Convert the save file using Savegames Converter website ; the target format should be "Acekard RPG | EZFlash V | RAW Format [Autodetection] (.sav)"
2. Load the game. Let it get to the main menu
3. Select the correct backup size*, as specified by advanscene.com (which is not always right, by the way)
4. Use File > Import Backup Memory and pick the converted save file
5. Reset the game

(* Step 3 is not always necessary, if you are smart and lucky, however, it will never hurt to do it.)

^ Oh no you don't need to do all that for the recent version of desmume.

It's because i haven't tried the newest version just yet. Anyway
the "image crash" always happens whenever i'm trying to save, i'm using No$gba 2.6a
please help

Wow. 5 steps. Is it that really hard to transfer desmume save files to no$gba and vice versa? What I always do is copy .DSV file of desmume and paste it on the battery pack of no$gba and renaming it to .SAV. Works like a charm...

quick note: I've noticed that everytime you make a recent save then followed sometime with a crash, freeze, or whatsover, you get backtracked to one of your earliest save points (which means minutes of wasted game time). It is because the save file (*.SAV, *.DSV) doesn't refresh to its most recent save until you reset the game after the save. My suggestion is that saving often is not enough but you have to reset it to update the save file. Then you can safely play the game without worrying about the next problem. (crap I'm using too much of the word "save"...any terminology I can use so it won't sound too cliche?)

Does it work if I rename .sav to .dsv??
And do you use Desmume or No$gba??
