Downhill Domination Settings/Problems

Hi all,

I'm trying to run Downhill Domination on PCSX2, but I have a problem.

The game loads and runs fine, but after the countdown at the beginning of a race, the rider and bike are fired upwards. They fall for about 5 seconds, then they crash into something. When the game resets them to the track, the same happens again. Occasionally, on the 3rd cycle, the game works perfectly, with the bike and rider actually riding on terrain for a few meters, but as soon as I hit a sharp change in slope, all the terrain dissapears again and the cycle starts over.

It seems other people can play the game with no problems, and I just wondered if there was any specific patch of certain settings that I need to use?

Many thanks, apologies for length!

Please note this Game Is Listed as Playable, Give or Take a Few graphical errors. Try and Switch your Video Plugin, From Gsdx To Zerogs Or if you were using Zerogs switch to Gsdx and see if that helps

I agree with the graphical errors bit, but its really not playable with _these_ errors, at least. I've seen a couple (old) posts saying that it works (just a bit slow). Zerogs is what I'm using now, and that gives me the 'fired into space' effect. Gsdx will run the game up until the point at which it goes into the race. Then it crashed pcsx2.
It seems more of a physics problem than graphics. Any idea what affects this?

Thanks!

I got EXACTLY the same problem! And I agree it has something to do with physics not graphics.

Today I decided to try Dowhill Domination I had bought years ago (CD is fine) works really fine but when race starts everyone get fired somewhere and after few seconds everyone crash and same again. It can't be possible for the PCSX2 makers to change what the game is like right? On ps2 race starts noramally but now it shoots everyone 5 meters high above ground or underground

Is there different "versions" or something maybe bios or the game itself that might cause this? If we have some old version(s) of something :P

PS. Graphics seem fine to me, no glitches.

downhill domination is fully playable and fast.. use latest pcsx2 beta (343), or compile svn 347 from sourceforge, dont use any speed hacks, use latest gsdx 1.7 or if you can compile the source, use gsdx 1.8 so that some graphical errors in some tracks will be gone

ps. dont ask me how to compile though, it's all up to you

Tried all those still now luck.

I tried different graphics plugin but that didn't help. Might outdated bios be the case? I have one from year 2004 :P

Bios wouldn't affect it to such a degree.

BIOS will only affect the game in such a way that there are only two results:
run or doesn't run

and all possible PS2 out there should give you a usable BIOS for PCSX2
