Hi all
I just insallted PCX2 at my computer to play FFX at it. I read this guide and now FFX runs. But as i expected, its very slowly. I get only 8 to 15 fps. Now i want to make it al little bit faster. Thats my PC-system:
AMD Athlon XP 3100+
ATI Radeon 9200 256MB
1 GB RAM

I just tried to turn the sound off, but i couldn´t manage to do this. I copied the "SPU2null.dll" file to my plugin folder, but it isn´t displayed in the configuration dropdown list. So i continued using Peops Sound 1.6. There i set all options to its lowest value and unchecked all checkboxes. But i can still hear this bloody sound . So how can i turn the sound off to get a boost?
Are there any other tips you can give me to raise the performance?

Bertel

Well i dont want to open a new thread for a stupid question, so, please, let me use this one.

First of all, my game runs around 30fps all the time. i believe that's ok with y rig (athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.4ghz and 7600GT)

But I would like to understand one thing about the FPS and slowmotion-like performace. The FFX on the PS2 runs at 30fps constantly. Square-Enix at the time said that (actually most of the PS2 games runs at 30fps) . But you don't get that slow motion feeling that you get when playing with the emulator. Why not? is there a way to fix this? I tryed the frame skip but the frames gets jumping and it's even worst than in slowmotion.

Even with PC games, when the FPS gets around 30 I can feel the difference, but I still can play it nicely. Not as smoth as if it was 60fps, but still no slowmotion and no "jumping frames".

sorry for my band english.

50 FPS is the actual speed of the PS2 Games(knew this from GSDX9 displayin 100% @50 FPS)IF u still feel pcsx2 is slow then blame u'r Feelings.

The game might only run at 30fps, but the ps2 still runs at 50/60 fps, it just has to display the same image two frames in a row. The fps quoted by pcsx2 is the ps2 fps not the game fps. Basically saying the game runs at 30fps just means that it only updates it's graphics every 2nd frame, so with pcsx2 running at 30fps the game would be running at ~15fps, make sense?

@Thief^, thanks, that make sense.

@Smasher, IGN, gamespot, Square-Enix, Famitsu... told that for me.

So the only way to solve the slowmotion is upgrading my PC. Ok hehehe.

Exclamation

Hi guys!

First of all, my computer specs:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+
2 GBs of RAM
GeForce 7950 GT (512 MBs of VRAM on-board)

I've just managed to install PCSX2 0.9.2 and to try Final Fantasy X on it, with these settings:
ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.96.0: Interlace Enabled, no Bilinear Filtering, no AA, resolution @ 1024x768
PEOpS SPU2 1.61.0
SSSPSX Pad Plugin 1.7.0
PEOpS CDVD Driver 1.2.0: W2K/XP IOCTL, Read-Ahead, 4x speed (I'm using it along with Daemon Tools)
BIOS: v2.00, European version.

Since I have a dual core CPU I've tried to enable MTGS and dual core mode in the CPU settings, but if I run the game and I activate the FFX Hack using F9, as soon as the intro of FFX appears, the video output window "goes crazy" showing artifacts everywhere, while the DOS console shows a bunch of lines saying "Transfer1 - 2".
If I deactivate MTGS and dual core mode, the game just runs fine, but it's very, very slow for my kind of machine (around 24 FPS during the introduction).

Can someone help me?? Thank you so much!

this problem isn't fixed in this version...you'll need to wait for the next one to come out
it's a known issue

have you tried the 256 color setting for gfx?
seems like your gfx is what's limiting the speed the most, not your sound

@Bertel,

It's a Windows setting, not PCSX2. Right-Click on pcsx2(t).exe and select 'properties'. Under the compatibility settings select 256 colour mode.

@Vokail

Press F9 while in-game.

@Vokail
You should press F9 as soon as you can see the output window of ZeroGS, when you press it a line saying "FFX Hack on" should appear.
