Hey I'm really impressed by how far PS2 emulation has come. When I checked like 2 years back, the most useful topic on PS2 emulation I got was "wait a decade". Well thankfully I didn't have to wait so long... Very impressive what you guys hacked together... cheers

How the times have changed, I remember people saying you'd need a 10GHz Pentium 4 to play PS2 games! Back then, it was a miracle just to get the emulated 'Emotion Engine' CPU to run some very simple demo code in a console, without video and sound, let alone to have the BIOS on-screen.

Even back in 0.9.2, there wasn't one game I had which was really working to some extent. The only game that went in-game was Tekken 4 and it used to completely lock up the PC after a while (and that was in window mode, right down to the mouse cursor), needing a manual reboot. Now (0.9.4) just about every game of mine ends up in-game.

GTA: Vice City doesn't go anywhere though, it hangs instantly on loading screen reading sector 315 (usually with Lance Vance or Ken Rosenberg on screen) and jumps straight to 50fps. Interestingly, the game's resolution is displayed as 640x511 in GSdx rather than 512.

Specs: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz | Windows XP Pro SP1 | 512MB DDR | ATi Radeon 9550 256MB - yes, this PC gets a nice 53FPS in Tekken 4 in PCSX2 0.9.4. Divided by 100!

I was in a similar boat. Last I checked, some very very powerful CPU's were*just* able to do FFX.

It has come a long way, but it still has much further to go!! I will help in anyway I can. Thanks for all the effort, and thanks to the community, which has quickly already proven very helpful and welcoming!

Congratz!

Eh, i question why there's a "thank you" thread for this crap. I mean, why would one want to thank someone for a program buggier and more crash prone than windows 98? Really... that doesn't make alot of sense to me.

Don't be a jerk, every other PS2 emulator team flopped over dead when they understand the work involved, but they stayed the course and now MANY great titles can be played at reasonable speeds, it's an amazing project, and I'm sure the people here will get very high paying computer related jobs some day, I mean heck, even SONY themselves struggled with an emulator, and PCSX2 will be almost perfect in a few years.

You may not like it, fine, this is a "Thank you" thread, basically, you're trolling by posting here and saying that, you could go voice your OPINIONS in the Trash bin of the forum, but you'd probably STILL get a warning / ban.
