Problems with FFX
Hello everyone,
I have some problems while playing FFX on my PC. 1. Sometimes the videos do not appear right. As a matter of fact they don’t appear at all; like the following photo. ![]() 2. Sometimes the FPS drop really low (about 30 – 35 FPS) when the scenery gets too complex I guess. My PCSX2 specs: PCSX2 version: 0.95 version 351 CPU: EERec, VU0rec, VU1rec, MTGS, DC (All checked) Limit=50fps [because my game version is European] Graphics : ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.97.0 (Interlace & Bilinear Filtering checked), Anti-aliasing 4x, Window Size 800x600, Advanced options (All Unchecked) Sound: P.E.Op.S. SPU2 1.9.0 BIOS version: Europe v01.60(04/10/2001) Console My PC’s specs: CPU: Two CPUs [ Quad Core Intel Xeon @2.33 GHz (1333FSB)] RAM: 16Gb at 677MHz Fully buffered Graphics Card: Nvidia 9800GX2 Do I have to change any of the PCSX2 options or do I have to do sth else? I would appreciate any help. Thnx |

Try GSDX9. Grab it here and put it into your plugins folder.

When I run the same scene with the Gsdx9 (MSVC 14.00 SSE2) 0.10.02 the video plays but with 1 - 2 FPS (All the options Unchecked except [Enable NLOOP]; with either Pixel Shader 2.0 or 3.0)
When the options are checked the game runs constaly at 25-35 FPS (really slow) and the videos don't run at all. |

GSdx Download the latest version. Check Log-z and Alpha Correction as well as nloop or with ZeroGS just turn off your AA during videos.

I have used the following Settings:
GSDX for SSSE3 res: 1024*768 Direct3D (Hardware) Pixel Shader 3 Interlace: None [Question: What exactly is that??? Should I use sth else?] Aspect Ratio : 4/3 D3D: Native NLOOP hack, Texture Filtering,Log-Z,FBA (All checked) The Videos are now OK. But the graphics quality went way down. When I Use D3D: 1024x1024 then the graphics are really nice but the monitor starts flickering. Do you think I should change any of the settings above to improve the quality without loosing speed or having flickering problems? I have tried many different option by luck but couldn't find anything better than what I have now. By the way thanks a lot for all of your help. I really appreciate it. I have changed D3D internal res to 800 x 800 the graphics now are almost perfect and the flickering is almost unnoticable. But if you have any other ideas that I should try I would be glad to here them. Last edited by alexaqua; May 5th, 2008 at 05:57. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Not to disappoint you...but socket 771 suck for gaming overall...
It's worse than C2D in gaming (even on par with Pentium D/4 in some games) 2x Xeon is workstation CPU afterall. Anyhoo, try ZeroGS KOSMOS with FFX hack on
