this might be a little off topic, but since it has to do with FMV sequences i'll post it here.

on page 3 of this thread, Refraction posted this regarding "black stripes" in FMV playback.

does anybody know the other resolutions that don't give the black strips in FMV videos?

i literally tried for over an hour with various resolutions, and everything except native resolution gave me black stripes.

I do a resolution of 1024x768 same as my desktop resolution and haven`t seen any black lines in videos.

cottonvibes's talking about FF X-2 FMVs. Not FMVs in general.

well actually the game i'm playing is Ar Tonelico, but alot of games seem to have the problem like FF X-2.
If you run it in native-resolution, the FMVs are perfect.
but in anything other than native that i've tried, i get black stripes.

Refraction mentioned theres other resolutions that work, and i think i've seen someone else mention that too, but that was along time ago and i don't remember what thread it was....

Anyways, I was just wondering, because i rather play the game with higher-resolution if possible.

I remember someone talking about using 1020x1020. But this was only for tekken I think.
You could also try to use a multiple of the native resolution. Might work for you.

In Tekken I believe it was res 1270 x 1270 that worked.

thats what i was trying.
didn't work.

i'm going to try 1020x1020, and 1270 x 1270.

but it might be that Ar Tonelico is just very picky. Because i really tried a sh1tload of values, and they all gave me black stripes except for native resolution.

edit:
tried them both, and they both produce black stripes
i guess Ar Tonelico dosn't like high-resolution :/
oh well, at least it works nice with native resolution

Yes we dont want that happening again.

Onto topic. Gran Turismo 4 still has the darkness issues that have been present ever since the most recent svn versions. Tested on most recent svn of 359.

As far I recall, the ipu changes were the only big change between the last few versions (349 - 359) so its likely that those ipu changes were the culprit behind the darkness issues. So in all technicality I`m sticking to the topic .

is it a video which exhibits these darkness issues?

Nonetheless, that is not altogether related to the IPU update. Let's not turn this into another beta discussion thread or risk giving any false hope.

On a side note: If the speed boost really is the case, the STATS data would probably need major adjustments after this.
