354 vs 351: FF XII videos slowed down a lot in 354, perfect in 351 with or even without speedhacks, naruto accel 2 videos also slowed down from 60fps to 30fps among others, what went wrong? could be the sif thing.. what went right? dunno, lol

edit: both game slowed down in-game too, probably more games are affected so i suggest we stick with 351 for a while
edit: double checked both svn's and vsync is off, i've never turned it on, videos in 354 is still slow compared to 351

you have vsync on, its nothing to do with the new revision, not enough has changed. I can try tonight, but i dont think itll make much of a difference.

i'm going to do some testing now.

looks like all refraction changed was a memcopy function to another memcopy function.

it shouldn't half the framerate.
but i'll test it now...

edit:

ok i tested FFXII and some other game, the new revision is about the same speed, maybe 1 fps faster in videos.

toyopsp, you must be doing something wrong... :/

edit 2:

toyopsp, what CPU do you have?

I did some test too. 354 svn release compiled now act in the struggle tournament in kingdom hearts 2 just as the debug compiled version No screen artifacts, just stuttering, and the game goes on (with Zerogs plugin)
Great

Edit: Sorry boys, on my system now even 342 keeps working the same way. I updated my catalyst drivers to 8.4 yesterday, probably all is due to that.
Sorry for all the fuzz

R-Type Final videos play decent but have a jitter to them for me and a few tutorial videos will freeze for a few seconds in some places and then continue on. Plays well in game and this is without speed hacks. Couldnt get it to run with previous versions of pcsx2 though. I am using the svn 351 build.

c2q 6600 @ 2.4, 8800gt 512mb, 4gb ram. im using gsdx 1.7 ssse3 dx10 1280x720 @ 60hz and 1600x1200 int res most of the time and also the latest rev of zerospu2.

The thing is I put the 2 exe's in one folder (351 and 354), used the same plugins and tried them both with and without speedhacks and the intro video of FF XII ran about 40-47 in 354 while constant 60fps in 351, so what am i doing wrong?

thats really odd.

okay try this:
try loading svn351, and play the FFXII intro and look at your average FPS.
then exit PCSX2svn351, and directly load svn354 after that. don't change any settings, and just click "run cd/dvd" and load FFXII again.
and check your average FPS.

there really isn't enough changed between 351 and 354 to drop 20FPS, the change made should actually make things a bit faster.

you must've changed a setting... maybe you have have "SPU2 tight sync" hack ON, and you're running PEOPS SPU2... since that makes the game run slow...

I see no loss in FPS either, benchmarked the FFXII intro to be sure (the updated ZeroSPU2 0.4.6 SPU plugin was used):

2008-05-01 17:09:59 - pcsx2svn351
Frames: 8584 - Time: 60336ms - Avg: 142.269 - Min: 126 - Max: 182

2008-05-01 17:15:31 - pcsx2r-svn354
Frames: 8591 - Time: 59427ms - Avg: 144.563 - Min: 127 - Max: 185

well since both me and RPG wizard are having no problems, its mostly that toyopsp changed some PCSX2 settings...

that's exactly what im doing, running 351 then 354 without changing anything and the speed difference is 40fps! i cant believe it myself, no tighter spu hack, cpu limit set to normal and im getting 80 to 100+ fps during FF XII intro video in 351 but in 354 it starts out at 114fps then drops to 47fps below. also every game that ive tried using 354 slowed down a lot, both videos and ingame... what seems to be wrong? im still trying to figure it out
