The speed boost was removed not long after, in the svn after it.

Reason -

SVN 365 "disabled denormals are zero on the VU's for now (thats the one that speeds it up ) will probably add it as a hack option, tho it shouldnt be, the ps2 takes denormals as zero :/"

I dont really understand that one bit.

K, some tech talk incoming:

To know what a denormal is, u gotta know what a normal is first.

A normal is a number in a floating point representation, the one used the most is IEEE754.
Now, some numbers which are very close to 0, and are smaller than the smaller number that the chosen FP representation can represent, are called denormals.

Know my wild guess is that by "denormals are 0", Ref means that PS2's and PCSX2;s implementation treats/should treat denormal numbers as 0.

This is getting off topic again, this is about the IPU update not beta discussions.

Ok that I kinda understand. But then why did it need to be removed. I`m assuming it broke a game or two. Sorry to go off topic.

keep this about ipu news discussions, if you want the damn speed boost revert to the svn previous to current, but dont come moaning if stuff breaks, cos it will happen (tekken 5 being one of them)

can someone open back up the beta discussion thread then?

i believe it was only closed because there was a temporary pause in the beta updates.

no it was closed due too the large amounts of hardware/off topic discussion

I'm halfway through Persona3 now, the videos never skip but often stall for a second.
I'm sure this will stay this way troughout the game, great work

Ah yeah, the speedboost is awesome. I needed to code me 2 more framelimiters xD

Thats exactly why we`re having svn related posts popping up in other places though (a major problem before the creation of the svn thread), because we have no other places to post on it. And we cant create threads on the topic since svn discussion is not allowed except in that one place, which is now closed.

I mean no disrespect at all, but we need somewhere to post on these things.

dont you find that somewhat ironic? we have a beta svn thread, but no beta discussion gets talked there, its all off topic and hardware related. but as soon as its closed people start talking about betas elsewhere.

Insane. If im feeling nice i migh make a new one, but will be warning/banning people for running off topic

The beta is avaliable on the beta section of the pcsx2 website. To get the lastest version you need to compile it yourself.
