can't get playable fps
I have both vista ultimate x64 and win xp 32bit sp3 , core 2 duo e4500, nvidia 8600 gt gs, 2gb ddr2 ... and the only game I've got working on great speed (@ 60 fps) is budokai tenkaichi 3 with the gsdx10 plugin. ZeroGS seems to get under 10 fps on any other game while ingame , while rendering 3d scenes. I tried : virtua fighter 4, street fighter ex3, tekken tag tournament, tekken 5, budokai tenkaichi 2 (which work well only with specular highlights on - zerogs)
plugins installed : Graphics ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.97.0 GSdx 0.1.7 GSdx10 0.1.4 GSdx9 0.10.0 Sound ZeroSPU2 0.4.4 GiGaHeRz's SPU2 1.7.0 P.E.Op.S. SPU2 1.9.0 SPU2null Controller SSSPSX PAD Plugin Pressure Mod 1.6.0 - using an usb thrustmaster gamepad Linuzappz Iso CDVD 0.7.0 I tried both 0.9.4 and 0.9.5 svn 330 on both vista and xp messing with speed hacks and cpu options and none helped. Any support here ? |

What bull.
8600 GTS is plenty for most games. Overclock your 4500 a bit (specially if you're running @ stock), something near 2.5 GHZ+. Your machine 'Should' be able to run games like Disgaea 1&2 60 FPS + Final Fantasy X, X-2, XII 50-60 FPS + ( Even more with speed hacks ) Shining Force Neo Wild Arms 4 Etc. @Full speed There should be no reason what so ever why you can't, other than you're not configuring your system right. Also using Vista only knocks off about 5-6 FPS which really isn't much since DX10 is really worth it. Also make sure you check PCSX2's compatibility list, while Tekken 5 is indeed playable it lags to a crawl even on beastly machines. I can barely get a decent 40-50 fps. |

Vista improved my FPS in some games by as much as 15-20FPS. It varies, no set amount.
8600 GTS is ok for most games, at low resolutions. 2.5GHZ is st ill low for some games. Considering the list of games he wants to play, his specs just don't meet them. HE didn't ask if he could play any of those games, so it's really poor examples.

I don't think Gainward's 8600gt at 625 MHz GPU is low ... read some other threads about how much fps ppl got from radeon x1300 or x1600 :| I can't even run a 2d game proper , this is not about gpu.
I also said I have both xp and vista installed and btw gsdx 0.1.7 is build for vista's directx 10 Desktop VGA Charts - Tom's Hardware for cpu charts (mostly oced, sli and extremely high-end vga cards , but u get the point )

most-likely the thing thats limiting him is his CPU.
but the 8600gt can limit you in some 3d intensive games or if you're playing at a high resolution.

But ya did good kid Pointing out the blatantly obvious, grab yourself a cookie. @unrevived What's your CPU clocked at? I know the 4500 can be OC'ed like crazy. |

. ZeroGS doesn't generate any error but it just doesn't get me higher than 15-20 fps (even lover).I didn't OC-ed my CPU but I can try that. Mostly I don't think this is a hardware problem... P.S. : Excuse my bad english... and I'm not a kid, but I like to think as myself as one ![]() edit: I just tried tekken tag tournament with zerogs (no fancy options on) reders ok but i get between 5 and 10 fps ... are the cpu / gpu that low ? (my guess is that the cdvd plugin could be the problem) Last edited by unrevived; April 17th, 2008 at 02:09. |

Hmm... I thought the 8600 and below was not good enough to handle graphic intense games? And I guess I am the only one what has a loss in fps. I think my graphics card would explain that too.

Loss in fps means having from 40 fps on a game to 35 or 30 ... i can't get any game to have more than 10 fps ingame , and not "graphic intense" games ... tekken tag tournament is pretty old and ingame i get 5 fps after ... "fight" ... and 7600 gt doesn't have dx10 support, pixel shader 4.0 and such high gpu speeds (depends on manufacturer and if it is or not oc'ed)

The latest DBZ game at 1024x1024 barely plays full speed most of the time on my computer just to let everybody know. (Specs in sig if you're blind) Though the game upscales like crap.

The 8600GT is more than enough for any game PCSX2-wise. PS2 emulation, while requiring a reasonable graphics card at least, doesn't require an overly powerful one.
What it DOES require is CPU clock cycles, and plenty of em. I still get emulation slowdown with my 3.7ghz C2D, althought it's not too bad. That e4500 just isn't enough juice.

ok, so let's say my specs are not powerful enough, and let's just say that budokai tenkaichi 3 works well and i want to play the game without crashing. Any idea why does it crash ? (i don't get any error, it only crashes in menus, while trying to advance in saga mode or any other that requires saving on the memory card), the animation keeps on going , it just seems like the controller doesn't give i/o anymore

the 8600gt can play most games, but its not "more than enough" for PCSX2, as it can limit you in a couple games.

... but i'm not limited, and I'm sure that 8600gt can get at least 20-30 fps on tekken tag tournament or budokai 1 which are not intense games , and I get 5-10 fps ... anyway ... i just downloaded snv343 and it seems that it fixed my saving problem and I can play dbz tenkaichi budokai 3 in dragon histor y mode so that is a bit of a consolation
