Just wanted to bump up this awesome guide. I never got the the PCSX2 to work on my computer. (It's probably too weak and it's a laptop.) However, I did get a lot of useful info about modded PS2s so I'm showing my appreciation!
Again, awesome guide! Thanks for thinking about the noobies.

You should mention and post a link the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer and the fact that it is sometimes needed to get AMD dualcore cpus to run pcsx2 optimally since it improves synchronization between the two cores .

The other guide kinda has more detail but most osn't needed, this is pretty short and decisive, ;ess of a head-ache to read. Anyway, I think I should get around 40-50 fps if I oC mine to 2.6 GHz (with other games like Bully). Shouldn't I?

Kinda odd, following your guide (thanks a million for that one) and I run into a weird problem in the graphics config part. I select Dx10 hardware, since I'm running a 9800GTX, but then the shader is grayed out and I can't do anything with it. Obviously it's not an "under powered" card, but does that mean it's automatically using the cards potential? Or just not recognizing that it can use the shader 3.0 and such?

ps 4.0 actually. Yeah its greyed out, and even if the greyed out part said p.s.2 or 3 on it ignore that cuz its actually using p.s.4 (if you are using dx10 and have a card that supports it).

The recommended spec is exactly the one i'm planning to buy next month to replace my ancient pc. I'm not going to OC since i'm somewhat afraid and i don'rt know how... maybe after 2 years or something lol.
So this can run games at 90-100% speed? I'm not sure yet if i'll just go with 8600gt since its really cheap now or wait for 4850 to get more cheaper. Is 256mb ddr3 for 8600gt enough? And which is better 256mb ddr3 or 1gb ddr2 for vc ram? What i'm mostly going to play are rpg games if that matters. Sorry if this was asked several times already... don't have much time to search through threads... Tnx

i updated the guide a bit
![]() guwapings: a 3ghz c2d will run alot of games at full speed or close to fullspeed; but not all games because there are alot of games that just run really-slow with even the most powerful systems. but RPG games are usually easier to emulate, and would most-likely run at full speed with a 3ghz c2d (games like FFX, FFXII, Disgaea 1 & 2) and the 8600gt is enough to run PCSX2 if you don't raise the internal resolution in GSdx more than 1024x1024. |

hmm,
well first check in your windows control panel -> gamepads to see if all your buttons are working in your gamepad. then go into PCSX2's Lilypad options menu, and reconfigure it. (make sure you didn't select the "diable pad" option, and also remember to select "start in analog mode") also make sure you have Lilypad plugin set as PAD1 and PAD2. |
