FFXII Flashing black flickers

It started after Barheim Passage. At one section the graphics become completely FUBAR and I could barely make out what was going on. After that, when I turn to a certain direction, the screen would rapidly flicker black. And when I turn away, it would stop. Note this never happened before Barheim Passage.

The flicker stops if I turn off texture filtering on GSDX 0.1.7. I'm using the beta already, so that's not the issue here. Any ideas on how to fix it?

This is a common problem in barheim passage. Turning on the lights and finishing this area should help you...

i had the same problem as well.
i think its a pcsx2 problem because both gsdx and zerogs did the same thing for me.
the only times it messes up badly like that is in the barheim passage with the lights off.
Also, later in the game when you first fight gilgamesh on the bridge it kindoff messes up; but its not that bad.

Dont use GSDX with frame skip + vu skip. vu skip will only work properly if frame skip is available and enabled. GSDX does not support frame skipping so the result is blank frames.

I am so glad I found this topic!

The first time I went though Barheim (after getting Basch?) all the polygons started to mess up. I started to wonder if my video card's memory was starting to give so I underclocked it shortly after getting out. Everything has been going fine since - until now. I had to go back to see if I could get a Deathbringer but see the same problem(s) again. I was about to fill out an RMA for my video card when I decided to see if anyone else was having this problem.

Very glad I did. I just thought I should come in and say thank you for saving me a lot of time and grief.

If you are in the same position as me, it would be best to just skip it. It is the only area in the game (so far) that shows graphical anomalies. Turning 'on' the lights help, but not by a whole lot.
