Thank you for the information. Actually I know about nvidia quality and better support for linux. But I found this ATI X1550 very good for its low price (128-bit, 512-RAM, supports two monitors, ...). I will install proprietary drivers for my card and try to run pcsx2 on my fedora 8 but I think it will not solve the segmentation fault (crash) problem. I will post later my results. Thank you again.

for video card drivers you should use envy. better than compiling your own or enabling restricted.

Installed ATI proprietary drivers and now pcsx2 started working even faster than windows version. Now my problem is about games that only works with analog controllers. Anyone know if it is possible to configure ZeroPAD plugin to work with keyboard or mouse as analog axes? Or will I need to buy a linux compatible joystick to play games like that? Thank you for the help.

You can configure Zeropad to use the keyboard, but it doesn't work very well. I bought a Logitech Rumblepad2 and it has worked flawlessly for me with no driver issues at all.

Yes, you can use Lilypad to configure the keyboard as Analog, search for it in the plugin section, I've read of people doing it.

Still, a Gamepad is the best course of action, easiest way to play / most effective.

Holy Carp. Barius--can you post your Zeropad.ini file...Mkibride--what? i thought lilypad was windoze only.

@paulderol,

I wasn't aware Lilypad had a Linux port either...

As for my own pad, the Logitech Rumblepad2 is well supported in Linux. All I had to do was plug it in and it was instantly recognized. When I started up PCSX2 and went to configure Zeropad, the controller was in the list of available devices and all I had to do was configure the button assignments, which took all of 20 seconds.

I don't know what's up with your pad, but I do know that not all pads work well under Linux since manufacturers don't make drivers. You can probably get what you have working, but it'll take some detective work on Google.

I attached my .ini but I doubt it will help you. I had to add .txt on the end for the forum to accept it.

1) So is there a linux version of lilypad? If so do you know the download links? When I compiled pcsx2 from SVN it came only with zeropad and I don't own a joystick.

2) Playing Phantasy Star Universe on Windows XP SP2 I noticed that memory cards don't work. Can it be a pcsx2 problem? Thanks.

I want to change for pcsx2 linux version because of the 64-bit architecture.

it has been established by numerous investigative attempts and what would seem to be the general consenus that there is in fact NOT a lilypad linux version, despite some discussion to the contrary.

@barius...that's your Zerogs.ini, not zeropad.ini....

zeropad blues...

are no more...but let it be known

Nvidia Twinview setup under Ubuntu 7.10 does something ridiculous to the controller axes in zeropad, such that they cannot be setup at all, and crash the emulator. Disabling Twinview entirely and using either a single monitor, single x screen setup, or a dual monitor, dual x screen setup does just fine.

let my foolhardy endeavour to not strip all my variables be a lesson to both me and you.

Oops, lol. Easy mistake. I'll not post it now though since you got it working anyways.

I had the same problem due to the fact that I didn't have the bzip2-development package installed.

In ubuntu you can fix with apt get:

sudo apt-get install libbz2-dev

or something like that, then just recompile and the iso plugins should show up now.

Intel?

Two things -

1) All this discussion of not being able to install linux over windows, or needing a boot disk, or boot sectors being overwritten etc etc....

You're ten years out of date, it was fixed back then. The only reason you even need to think about this stuff is if you want to do very special things like transplant operating systems between hard disks or computers, or move partitions around on a drive. It's very safe and it has been for a long time. Also the ntfs-3g driver in Ubuntu is quite safe now, writing to ntfs from Linux is now fine.

2) Anyone managed to get it running on Ubuntu with an Intel GFX chipset?
How did you build it?

They're very well supported in terms of drivers, but of course they don't have the power of the nVidia or ATI cards.

Please, can anyone tell me if the emulator runs faster under Linux, rather than under Windows XP? Please...

And, yeah, does it run under TinyXP, and how fast? Thanks in advance!

Not noticeably.
You can always give it a try, though, provided you are already comfortable with Linux.
No point learning Linux just for pcsx2.

I had used the linux version for some monts but some weeks ago I updated to Ubuntu 8.4 from 7.1 and it doesn't work anymore....

After compilation, when I try to run the first time config it just doesn't "see" the pad plugin. The zeropad files are in the plugin folder but they are not listed on the configuration window. All other plugins work just fine.

Any idea??

Thx in advance.

Try deleting the plugin files (*.so) and the source code. Re-download and re-compile.
I know it sounds annoying, but it's often the fastest solution.

Hey! I have the same problem you described but I didn't get it fixed by installing that package. I run it on Ubuntu Hardy Heron and I installed it from the deb-package from GetDeb - Software for Ubuntu Linux (Application Information - PCSX2).

I don't know what to do to make the ISO plugin show (it just doesn't appear in the CDVD plugin list). I've also tryied the program Gmount-Iso and mounting the game ISO but it doesn't work as it only mounts the ISO in "/media/cdrom/" or "/media/cdrom0/" and the polling plugin only allows "/dev/cdrom/" or "/dev/dvd/".

What can I do?
