This technique is mostly for people who are having trouble of getting playable fps but the price they pay is worst than ZeroGS quality... Resident Evil 4 is already near and surpassed 60 fps after you get deeper into village. It just that the beginning of the game have so much trees and stuff... After you pass that part the rest of the game seems to be in the high 50's and 60's fps =)

Never thought I would see my 7600 getting 50fps+ at the opening scene in RE4. Nice find.

Edit: If you go into the menu's and come back out my screen stays on a grey screen.

It works! I tested Zone Of the Enders 2. Normal it runs 17-25 fps, but now it runs at 25-32 fps! I think that this invention will help a lot of people! Also i found that it works on Windows Nt Service pack 5 compatiblity mode too! Now what is better? Windows 200 or Windows NT? I also try it on Windows 95 and windows 98 compatiblity mode, but it dosent work!

you don't even need the Win 2K or NT etc. compatibility mode - it works with just normal XP and 256 colors. Seriously

Is there anyway to reap the benefits of this if you have a faster graphics card?

I checked only 256 colors and saw no speed gain with maybe a little drop.

I have a decent cpu and a good gpu.

opteron 165 @ 2.6 (9x290) and a 256mb 1900xt @ stock.

No change at all... maybe 1-2fps more
Try on FFX,KH1,Naruto 3,DBZ Budokai 3 using VM,TBL I think it work only on Core 2 Duo coz all people that have speed boost have it(Core 2 Duo)

No, it dosent work on core 2 duo only, it works on X2 too. Zone of the Enders runs a bit faster for me, but i can not see any speed change on Resident Evil outbreak file2. Maybe that because Outbreak file2 already runs full speed on my system? It runs 40-50 fps, without 256 colors, and it runs the same even with 256 clolors enabled.

Edit: I test these games on TLB version only, maybe it wil run faster on VM version?

It only speeds up GPU bottlenecked systems. If Your CPU is slow (in PCSX2 terms), You wont see difference.
just to point out obvious.

Hm. Tried it again today... no differences now.
Only the nonVM version seems to be as fast as the VM version with 256 colors, while it's 5fps slower in full color ... something's strange here.

Worked on my single core athlon64 4000+,so i guess it works with almost every processor.
Nice one, although if i recall correctly zero did state that in the next version he will enable users to tweak many internal stuff (maybe this one too) with checkboxes in the config dialog

Well, I tried it as well, it's true, it's like decreasing quality by fooling ZeroGS, and most people didn't even see the difference....

It's quite a nice options for people who has their video card bottlenecking them, if you try it and it speeds up in your system, this means your video card is bottlenecking your system. It rocks for me because I can know play Castlevania Lament of Innocence at 4X anti aliasing without any slowdown.

Samhayne : Try enabling anti-aliasing and compare, you might be suprised....
It's because the primary bottleneck in your case is actually the processor since you're not using anti-aliasing.
