No change for me, Suikoden III.

Edit: Actually, my FPS dropped by 1-3... Ew! Gonna try Suikoden IV.

I've got to ask, is there an option in the GS plugin to disable stretching of the image? Even at 640x480 (standard size) it has some strange artefacts, especially noticeable with 2D stuff like the text in Tekken 4. On the real machine it's clear and rounded instead of doubled at the bottom edge of the letters.

I could be completely wrong, but wouldn't a direct image output to the screen be a lot faster? I have noticed in ePSXe that Dr Hell's "simple" GDI plugin can be faster than Pete's best in some cases (e.g. mirror stage in Tekken 2).

The same problem happens with the N64 emulators (look at Mortal Kombat Trilogy or Mario Kart 64). However MESS doesn't exhibit this, since there is no stretching or resolution changing, apart from the final image which is a basic "stretch to fill screen". Still, I wouldn't want to see MESS emulating a PlayStation 2 until the Core 2 Duo is labelled a 486 in terms of speed (as of 2007).

Specs: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz | Windows XP Pro SP1 | 1GB DDR | ATi Radeon 9550 256MB - yes, this PC gets a nice 53FPS in Tekken 4 in PCSX2 0.9.4. Divided by 100!

As quoted from the FAQ.

Quote:
In short, zerofrog refuses to link Render Target to Window Size, and you're used to something different (I told him you'd moan...but noooo did he listen...pfffk! )

ZeroGS renders to native PS2 resolution, thats it's default render target, when you set the window size to say 1024x768, ZeroGS still renders to native PS2 resolution, but stretches that resolution to fit the window size. What you are used to is setting your window size to x*y and the target resolution also changes accordingly.

The so called 'AA' ZeroGS uses, isn't actually anti alaising, it simply ups the render target size, so you end up with a higher resolution image, thus increasing it's quality (albeit blocky).

So you're thinking, well what gives? To be honest, you do, the forum user, so many people whine about speed (oh no my aging rig..or general abuse thrown at the mods / developers), it was decided that in order to maintain speed, the render target and window resolution would remain unlinked, despite the obvious fuglyness of it.

Virtua Fighter 4

Hello together!

I've downloaded the pcsx2 emulator just a few days ago and I was very impressed of what this "little" tool can emulate. I've tested Virtua Fighter 4 (Evo) on it, but I only have 12-14 fps.

Yesterday I've found this topic and I couldn't believe how you can play with even more fps, but in my case, it doesn't fit.

Can anyone help me please?

I've ran the pcsx2 with 256 colour mode, but I don't get one little fps more... It is weird! This result with a good computer system... Do you have a tip, what I can make in my situation? I've read also in this forum, that someone can play vf4 with 36 fps!

Here are the facts about my system (but I don't think, that they'll help you):
Core Duo E 6400
2.048 MB DDR2 RAM
NVidia Geforce 7950 GX2

did you enable MTGS&DC in the CPU menu and all recompilers?
and the 256color mode works only with ZeroGS 0.96.0.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Yes, I've enabled all these options and I've used all the drivers, which can be found in the "Picture Topic". But it doesn't take any effect...

I'm very frustrated!

You got just the same iussue of mine.
I tested he emu on 5 different machines, starting from and old but powerful P4 550 + 2 GB + X800XT-PE, to a pro machine Conroe E6700 + 2 GB + 1650PRO / 7900GS: sloooowly.
Teeken4 goes at max 25-35 fps in combat.
I've given up
I'm standing by the 1.0 emu version, maybe it'll go better...

Though it might be better running pcsx2 on an older system? I haven't heard something about that, but when you say this, I'll believe you.

What is the emulator 1.0?

Maybe this will be helpful to someone.

In my experience, I've only tryed one game DBZ3 and loaded the bios,
On my machine
ZeroGS
wont go past 5 fps in the bios, wont pass 20fps in game and goes back down to 5-4fps in battles no matter the other settings settings.

GSdx9
Runs over 20fps. In GSdx9 you can make it run faster by using fullscreen emulation, lower resolutions make it faster but less detailed.

EERec
Must be enabled or emu runs >2fps

VU0rec
On/off no difference

VU1Rec
Enable and run x2 faster<--really makes a difference

MTGS
Makes everything run x2 slower

Dual Core
On/Off no difference

These setting were tested on the bios(what you see when you 1st turn PS2 on) and with DBZ Budukai 3 your experience may vary.

And I do have a dual core machine it just enabling the dual core options only keeps everything the same or slow my machine down, why is that?
Plus, I have a 3D acc graphics with PS3.0 so why is ZeroGS 2-3x slower than the old plugin GSdx9?

Im only posting this cause I updated my sig

Simple. Your GPU, to be frank, sucks. If you can, get a better one and you'll see improvement.

*Edit
And 512mb and you're running Vista?!!? WTF?! You should go back to your seller and slap 'em! 512 is acceptable for XP, but I'd have at least 1gig if you plan on using PCSX2 .

Yeah Vista ran slow just being Vista. Plus add that I have obg so the ram is shared with the graphics, for noodles that means less than 512 more like 448 for Vista to actually use. But, XP is great especially speed wise. Although dualcore probably does help I can't really tell how much is the cpu and how much is the gpu. But, here's some stuff I need to add/change about what I said above.

ZeroGS is above 30fps at times in menus, whiles its paused, 2D, but the 3D slows down to 4-5fps. I'm thinking its because I have obg and not a regular card. Question what's a good card in the 75-150 range for PCI Express. I really want a AllNWonder but seems most places stopped selling them

No real point in getting an All in Wonder nowadays, TV tuner cards are dirt cheap nowadays and hardly anyone uses all their PCI slots. For $150USD, go for a X1900GT or the equivalent NVIDIA card. Why am I suggesting the X1900? Well, I'm not sure if your board supports PCI-E and the X1900 comes in both AGP and PCI-E goodness . But you want to make sure what graphics port your motherboard has before buying your card of course .

of course i am playing @ 36 fps, but i occ the cpu @ 3200 mhz , i am not keeping the beast @ 2133 like you, it's a shame . i get 26 fps when i am 2800 mhz and 36 @ 3200, without 256 color trick i only get 27 fps @ 3200

that p4 is weak it should be @ 7 ghz to go as fast as my cpu goes, so is not powerfull at all, and youre e6700 is weaker than my e6400 @ 3200 because you don't occ it, that cpu does 3200 mhz with no problem and then you should see how much the situation will change.

On my pc I used to get around 0.5 fps on MGS2 Tanker section, with this 256 colour thing enabled, I get around 3 fps. If I did my maths right thats a 600% increase!

Most boards do have only 3 PCI slots and only 2 are usable (gfx cooler,
bad board designs etc),
pretty easy to use all of them.
And All-In-Wonder is better at deinterlacing compared to cheap tuner cards.
