I am not able to boot the ISO image file from the CD-R on the PS2. Do you really need to modify the PS2 to boot optical media CD-R's?

Hi
I have exactly the same problem like yongwh1986 and cahsol.
if I select the mass:/ device my USB Stick blinks 3-4 times and then the Programm freezes. It is a older 256MB Verbatim USB 2.0 Stick. I tried to completly reformat it via diskpart under Vista to erase everything like old Bootloaders from DOS and so on (my stick was bootable) but nothing works. I used Fat32 and Fat that also didn't help. Everytime the same problem

**Update**
I think I solved the problem. I tried 3 different USB Sticks my first with 256 MB and one fast with 4 GB and the third is a really cheap 4 GB Stick. It's read and write speed is horrible but this damm thing works. I think that Sticks with a to high read and write speed fail on the PS2 because the Controller couldn't handle that I/O Traffic. So just search a cheap slow Stick and the dump will work IT is crazy LOL

I have a problem. It gets stuck in the BIOS dumping screen. My console is SCPH-30004, PAL region and version 3. In the dump screen it only says "Dumping BIOS". That is where it hangs. What's wrong?

Hi Poro

I think you have the same problem like me. Try different USB Sticks from other Brands. Be sure that you have Fat or Fat32 as Filesystem and the Stick is formated.

I don't know if this matters but the reason you might need to use old slow usb sticks is because as far as i know PS2 uses only usb1.0 ports so a 2.0 stick might be to fast for the data transfer

Question?

Will a ps2 not read a cd with usbadvance or usbextreme or anything on it unless its modded? can someone explain to me my options please as money is limited for the time being and im attempting to play a game you cant get in australia (dragonballz: sagas) on a ps2 but the ps2 isnt modded, i have usbadvance on cd and it loaded through an emulator i have on here but id assume the emulator is around the same as being modded anyways...i have an NRG file of the game on my hard drive, an external 500gig, a pen drive thats a 2 gig (the games about 1.3gig) unlimited cds and dvds at my disposal for burning, a ps2 with no modding or anything in the expansion bay, however im pretty sure it has a lan and usb port built into it (its not here but is being brought back in the next few hours) can you let me know if my idea is possible? and or how i could do it without modding it or paying more money than i have at the moment. If there is a possibility that its doable with any random common parts i may have lying around or are easily accessable to me cheaply, could they be taken into consideration as well please. It would be much much appreciated, sorry for rambling.
Lachy.

try using iPod to launch uLe by SwapMagic disk. Mostly, iPods are friendly to PS2s.

it happened to me using the DUMPBIOS-MASS.ELF,

maybe it isn't compatible to SCPH-9000x Series,

i don't know but i've just grabbed a dumper in the net, which covers the new PS2s,
maybe they're referring to Slims.

i can upload it here, too bad, its not present on my usb stick,i'll just upload it here, if it is not already here.
