a laptop with :

NVIDIA® Geforce 8600M GT 512MB
1,80 GHz Intel® Core2®Duo T7100

should easily get full speed with FFX, isnt it?

Considering a laptop has a C2D 1.8GHz, what would be the cheapest GPU that would still garantee a full speed on most games?

-BonzO- :

No you won't. Especially if you're gonna use AA as well as bilinear filtering.
My suggestion for full speed in FFX is a Core2Duo running at 2.4Ghz (E6600) or an AMD X2 5200 or above. And the video card will slow down especially if you use AA and BF. However if you don't plan on using those features, then it's more than enough. Until Shiva.......

Unfortunately, a Pentium D 2.66GHz is the slowest of the slowest when it comes to dual core CPUs and there's prolly some single core CPUs that can beat it also in PCSX2, so it won't be enough for many games. Also while your 7300GS has 512MB it's probably a waste of capacity as it won't really benefit the slightest over 256MB. It's not only about vidmemory capacity and 7300GS is more a office targeted computer graphics card that is cheap and stays cools and doesn't consume much power at all and is not a strong performer. Games like Disgaea and similiar looking ones are perhaps your best bet, or if you can withstand speeds like 15 - 35 FPS then perhaps FFX and KH1 is ok as well.

I used to have about 30 - 45 FPS during fights when normal cam was used and when zoomed in cam during speciall attacks it would go 60 FPS+ with an overclocked Opteron 165 @ 2.8GHz, I think you'd get about same.

I have what you reccomend (c2d e6600) and i got only about 20 FPS, until i overclocked to about 3 ghz, when i got 50 FPS..

using the dual core mode in the game seems to slow everything down intolerably..

i wonder if its the motherboard i have.. i have the eVGA 680i... i wonder if somehow that's what slows down the dual core mode?

Follow up. I fixed it. I updated the bios on my MB (eVGA Nforce 680i SLI) and now everything is golden, 60 FPS!

Oh..... Don't revive long dead threads.....

.. You have a Pentium 4. Sadly to say, it will never be enough for PCSX2. Impressive you have a GTS250 along with that P4 processor....

Say... What happened to RPGW1ZaRD, haven't seen him in the forums lately.....
