Yap... If they used crossover games, the difference would be noticeable. Check for yourself: The plugins using in this mac port are the linux counterparts; The GUI is the basic GTK theme; The console says "xterm" instead of "PS2 Output" While it may be fake, which I don't think it is, faking this wouldn't have been achieved by using crossover games. Besides, they are running actual games, not just the main emu window.

Hey this is great news. That would make it more tempting to switch to a Mac. Good Job.

Just a quick update on the situation. I haven't had much time to work on it due to real life issues so it's still the same as two days ago. Yes, ffxii actually shows the intro movie which is a great thing. But for now that's the biggest achievement. It quits right after that with a generic cg compiler error(which almost certainly is just triggered by an exception in main pcsx2 code) and I'm trying to debug it but no luck so far. I've also tested Disgaea and ffx, disgaea just fails immediately, while ffx goes into infinite loop. I hope I'll have some more time to work on this over the weekend and I will have some better news. And, no, it's not a fake. The patches to make the linux version on a mac didn't turn out to be too numerous actually. For zerogs, the main points were that: 1) GLX_DEPTH_SIZE, 24 isn't supported for glXChooseVisual 2) Secondary color also doesn't work so had to be removed 3) GLuint is unsigned long on apple, so had to change the typedef of u32 4) some asm code used had to be ported to nasm 5) there seems to be no alpha blending available and the code didn't handle it correctly, so had to change that. That pretty much covers it actually. For the main app there is the obvious error that MAP_ANONYMOUS=MAP_ANON and most of the asm files had to be ported to nasm. That's it. Some more issues with plugins but nothing too serious. I'm pretty unsure for now why the interpreter mode would fail. Last edited by Zedr0n; July 11th, 2008 at 23:07.. |

I am really _really_ looking forward to this! I will be separated of my PS3 for a year, so I would love to finish FFXII on my macbook pro! Speaking of Crossover games, is there any possibility to get PCSX2 running thru it? I love PCSX2!! |

Assuming that PCSX2 even starts on CrossOver Games, it would be unbearably slow. Think about it, you are emulating PS2 inside an emulation of Windows x86. Not worth it.

this is very interesting. I wish you luck although since macs are made for user friendliness and web browsing I doubt many mac users would have much of a use for it. oh and the pretty colorful interface might make PCSX2 go slower. mac users please tell me how this works speed wise as I have a dell with windows on it.

still thinking about where to host a repository but for now i just host one for myself at my webserver(the same as the blog). I haven't been working much on the project, but I've cleaned up it a bit so now it doesn't require manual editing of makefiles, it's plain configure/make. I'll try to provide some tips on how to build it on mac, e.g. what are the dependencies and libraries required but i don't really remember in which sequence i've installed what. And I do have notes stating that there are some problems with installing gtkonx11 which require workarounds so I'll be thankful for a volunteer with a clean mac to go through the the build process. The trac project is up at PCSX2/MAC - Trac I've uploaded build to rapidshare - http://rapidshare.com/files/151253051/pcsx2.tar.gz.html. Bear in mind that you'll have to find a jap bios 1.0 to test it ![]() You'll surely need gtk+ and xquartz version of x11 for mac which can be found at http://xquartz.macosforge.org. Yeah, and Nvidia-Cg framework for mac. Not sure what else, never tested it on any other mac

RapidShare??? Cripes. PM me and I can get you setup with some proper hosting. It's always nice to see the Mac world progress.

Sorry, forgot to repoint the plugins directory so uploaded a broken build, it seems. You can now grab the latest build at http://pcsx2-mac.quant0r.com/files/pcsx2.tar.gz
