Hi everyone. I purchased another ps2 recently and got some games as well. And one of these games is Silent Hill origins. As we know this game suffers from some really silly bugs (we are still hoping for some fixes). Refraction helped me to make a patch long time ago to make it somewhat playable. Today I tried this game again and it simple refused to work with newest pcsx2. So I tried a few things and came up with a new patch that should make it playable on current pcsx2. Game works fine with current Gsdx in software mode (You can try this if you got a beast pc) but it misses lots of stuff in hardware mode (I think I know what's wrong with this and will try to fix it as soon as I install VS). Therefore I am attaching old versions of gsdx9 and gsdx10. Except from some minor shadow problems these versions seem to work best. Also I am attaching a memory card save at the first save point (for all those who want to skip the initial useless intro). Please remember that sounds still don't work and this patch is only for SLUS_217.31 . I can try to make a patch for other versions too. Feel free to send your elf file to prafull.arjeria@gmail.com ![]() Please report your experience/bugs in this thread. Thanks.

This new patch definitely works better than all the older ones did for me I have SLUS_217.31 but a different CRC but after changing the name of the patch to my correct crc it loaded the patch just fine With this one I can see movies, which have sound, and the menu background screen etc so basically everything except for ingame sound (and some graphical errors) works now Do you have any info on what causes the sound not to work? Is it something that can be fixed with a patch or would that require more? Thanks for this patch though, btw |

hey, that was quite a good hint. the console window posts just after bios was successfully loaded "xml loader returned an error. trying to load a pnach... no patch found. resuming execution without a patch (this is NOT an error). patchnumber: 0 what means THAT? The latest patch listed on this topic i`ve just copied in the dir and in my patches list of pcsx the silent hill origins patch is listed too. what now? |

You might not have the patch named correctly In the console window, it should say your game CRC somewhere, name your patch to that with a .pnach at the end and put it in the patches directory. So if your CRC was AAAA1234 then name your patch AAAA1234.pnach and then it should actually load the patch instead of saying you failed to locate a pnach That was my problem at first, my patch's name didn't match the CRC |

that seems to work, no more error message but before the patch loads there still stands "XML loader returned an error" after this the patch file is correctly loaded after i renamed the patch file. by the way: do i have to disable movies in some way or something like that? |
