Not to mention, some games just naturally have texture bugs. Take Persona 3 for example, regardless of which plugin you use, some angles / areas of the game will have cut off / screwey textures, I looked around and everyone has to deal with this, this also happened to me in a few other games. PS2 emulation is far from perfect yet, so we'll have to deal with it. Sure, it may give you a mild seizure at first, but your eyes will adjust :P

yeah, i've been playing Persona 3 for the last 4-5 days on PCSX2. mostly its the carpet on the floor that gets messed up. i think it has something to do with the way PCSX2 handles floating point variables... it probably rounds them incorrectly or something, and places the carpet at the same location as the floor is suppost to be. so you get a carpet/floor that repeatively flashes... i think i remember reading in a blog post Zerofrog made about the PS2 handleing floating points different than x86 processors, so thats probably what it is.. i wonder if that can ever be fixed though...

the PS2 handles everything diffrently then an x86 processor...

yeah basically ![]() but usually when you're handling integers, you get the same result in processors. like the number "2343" in x86 is the same in a ps2 (well, the format might be different, but you still get the same integer) but with floating point variables, which are real numbers, the processor handles them differently. like in the ps2's processor you have the number "2.3343494338", but using the x86 processor you might have the number "2.33434985559" and its those little .0000000xxxx" differences that give these graphical errors. well, at least thats my understanding

Oh? It may never be fixed? That'd be quite a bother, but I'll stay optimistic :P I'm holding off on playing it right now...mainly due to FPS issues(Some boss battles at 30FPS become intolerable, especially the ones that last a good 10-15 minutes.) I checked my CPU and my GPU and both weren't being used 100%, so I'll assume it's an Emu bug(I know it doesn't use all four cores, but the two it does weren't maxed) Also, Persona 3's music is so highly addicting I couldn't stop hearing it and couldn't sleep, so I decided to take some cool off time :P Plus, leveling is a real chore in that game...with the low FPS, some fights with 4-5 enemies go to 39FPS...and well...3-4 hours @ 50-60% total game speed does hell on my eyes.

well, perhaps the PCSX2 team can find some solution... i don't know if what i said is really even the problem... but it sounds like it might be... anyways, I just ended up using a cheat to get my main character to lvl99, so i don't have to do alot of battleing. and if i do, i just use one character and then it dosn't run too slow. (the battling in Persona 3 is kindoff boring anyways, the fun part is the school activities) 30-40FPS is about the slowest i get, but thats when i use my full party... but in-game while walking around the school i get over 75+ (i have my limiter on 75, so i don't know what i really get) i'm about 80% done with the game, and the worst problem is really just the carpet/floor glitch... oh also in some random battles, the game just hangs after you attack an enemy. so you have to quick-save frequently (it gets kindoff annoying)

Yes, I used Save States to fight every battle, just in case...but I deal with it :P I don't want to cheat...I know it's boring...the battle system, honestly, it is, but I'm one of those weirdo's who will complain about how bored he is, but then gets a level and gets all excited and gets new energy to continue on. I like the school stuff to, it was confusing at first. I mainly get 27 in the assemblies, and 35FPS in Homeroom. 90-105FPS walking around the school(with limiter off)but battles can get down to 30-35FPS...so yeah. I got plenty of other games to play in the mean time though.

i've spent over 200+ hours playing FFXII, so when i started playing Persona w/ its relatively boring battles, i couldn't take it anymore! lol i don't normally cheat, but persona's battle graphics arn't that great. and i can't take another 100+ hours lol i decided to just have fun... in fact this is the first RPG i've cheated on :P Edit: phil, didn't see your post.. well using PCSX2 i have 80 something hours in FFXII, but on my ps2 i have another 140 hours; and since on pcsx2 the game dosn't always run at fullspeed, its probably more than 80 hours. all i can say is that RPGs sure take alot of time! lol

How could you say Persona 3 had a boring battle system if you've played FFXII? I agree both have a boring battle system, but at least in Persona 3 you have to press buttons :P What I mean is, how can you say Persona 3's battle system is boring COMPARED to FFXII? Which is known for it's incredibly simplistic battle system(I played it for like...12 hours, to really give it a good try...but...it's the only game I ever FELL ASLEEP while in a battle, really!) I know everyone has different opinions, but there is no disputing FFXII had an awful battle system(For a Single player game) How are FFXII's battle graphics better? I've notice far more detailed textures on weapons and characters alike in Persona 3, I did comparison screenshots and whatnot.

In my opinion, yes. FF7 was a fun game, I'll admit that? Worth of the praise it gets? No. FF7, even at the time of it's release, was an average game. I much prefer FF8, FF9, and FFX, and FFXI(Yes, the online one) myself. FF7's coolness didn't start until about the third disc, and that's quite awhile for coolness to kick in. All my opinion though, but I'm sure everyone can agree it doesn't deserve the massive insane amount of praise it gets. Fanboys for it are usually unbearable too. Completely different types of games we're comparing...FFXII, Persona 3, and Final Fantasy 7 are all pretty different though.

to me FFXII looks less blocky and the characters look more detailed. and i personally like just walking around and attacking enemies instead of going to a different "battlemode", everytime you have to fight an enemy. plus the Persona's in Persona all have the same magic, so it gets boring. they either have fire magic or ice... in FFXII theres alot more stuff. what i like about Persona is it's anime art, but it's 3d models are very blocky and plain-textured. and Persona's story is way better than FFXII... i just wish its graphics were better..

True, the story of Persona is great, one of the other reasons I got bored with FFXII is the story was like... a regression. I mean, FFX10 set the bar pretty high for a decent battle system / good story / characters that are easy to like, and what really topped it off : Presentation. FFX's main strong point is how it was presented, FFXII just never really got me into any scenes...Asche, I thought she was a *****, I didn't even sympathize with her plight because they didn't make ti seem like she cared at all, so emotionless, van Vaan's stomache was EFFED UP.

well guys, i'm a ff7 fanboy lol and my second favorite is ff8. i'll admit, i havn't played FFX for more than 1 hour, so i barely know about that game. and i can't relate it to FFXII yet cuz i havn't played it as much. my brother beat FFX and he says its pretty good, but says FFVII is still better. whenever i try and play FF1/FF5/FF6 i always get bored 40% into the game and stop playing.. i can't play a rpg with nes/snes graphics without getting bored. after FFXII and Persona 3, i plan on beating FFX since people love it. but i'll admit i don't like Tidus, i mean what the hell is he wearing? but Vaan is also just as bad, i wish they would make cooler main characters... thats one of the reasons i like FFVII and FFVIII, cloud and squall are cool...

Tidus is weird, but better than Vaan. At least Tidus grows a pair about 75% of the way through. Vaan remains a little Alien Kid. FFX at least had personality, bad personality maybe, but at least it had it :P Wow, we're so off-topic, we'll probably get moderated / these posts deleted, lmao.
