but RPG games are usually easier to emulate, and would most-likely run at full speed with a 3ghz c2d (games like FFX, FFXII, Disgaea 1 & 2)

and the 8600gt is enough to run PCSX2 if you don't raise the internal resolution in GSdx more than 1024x1024.
Ok tnx for the reply So i need a better card if i want a higher res, right? Does the video ram matter in these stuff? 512mb or 1gb?

And these really-slow games, this is because of pcsx2, right? I mean in future versions, they might run at good speeds or you do really a very powerful pc for those games?

512mb is fine, however, as much you add as much you get in terms of special effects, high res...etc.

Basically, if a game works (playable from the beginning till the end) without crashes with a good speed in the actual release, it'll gain (or not) speed with new releases of PCSX2 (Compatibility then optimized features).

why not buy
Amazon.com: Sony VAIO VGN-FW148J/H 16.4" Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Blu-Ray Drive, Vista Premium) Grey: Computers & PC Hardware

this one already has 4GB of RAM and should run pcsx2 allright, yet it is NOT recommended to run pcsx2 on a laptop due to severe heat problems.

Heya, thanks a lot for writing this guide,I've finally managed to run FFX properly
One question though,In one section of the guide you write that we should write 75 FPS on the Frame Limiting for a bit of a speed-up gameplay,But i can't find a box to write it at.
Also, will FFX and FFXII run smoothly at 75 FPS limit without FPS drops on this system?:
Core2Duo E8400 3.0 ghz @ 4.0 ghz,Radeon 4870,4 gigs of ram

There is no custom fps limiter in 0.9.4. It's in beta.

FFX and FFXII won't run @75fps constantly on 3.0GHz C2D. So yes, there will be slowdowns in some parts of these games.

Even if i overclock it to about 4.17ghz? As that's pretty much what I'm doing right now.

Sry, haven't seen it before... @4.0Ghz it should be more than enough, well maybe exept shiva summoning in FF X or a fight with some 5 million hp additional boss <don't remember it's name> in FF XII.:P

So, I've decided to upgrade my computer's GPU, and settled on the 9600gt. That would bring my specs to

3 gb ram
intel q6600 @2.4 ghz(overclocking when I get a new fan)
Asus 9600gt Silent 512 mb

Would this be sufficent to run most games at the 45-60 fps range? If not, what would the recommended overclocking for either the GPU or CPU?

i've got a problem... i tried playing aeon flux, and everything works fine
except that in-game, the game speed is a bit below what it should be and i have a problem that when i push the move keys, she just walks, she doesn't run. it works as it i were pushing the analog stick really slowly (i'm using a keyboard)

anyone have any idea what might fix this?

the game's slowish speed isn't a cpu problem, my computer is above optimal specs and the game menu (which is a 3D environment) works at normal speed

You might need to overclock it to about 3.0GHz to talk about decent speed.
and which controller plugin are you using, try lilypad.

i have, the problem is that this game only reads the analog stick for movement and there's no way to change that
