PCSX/EPSXE, Sound, and Chrono Cross
Problem : I can't figure out how to "stabalize" Chrono Cross's music. It speeds up and slows down almost randomly.
Setup : Game currently running off a BIN/CUE file I made off my copy. Hardware - P4 1.7 + 512MB PC-133 RAM - Radeon 8500 250/250 - Intel Built-in AC '97 sound (siiiiigh) - 80 GB HD Emulators : EpsxE 'n PCSX Plugins : Sound - Eternal/Null/Peter's Open Source Graphics - Peter's Open Source Software, Pete's OGL/D3D So here's the problem elaborated : When I turn off frame limit, I get the game running at like, 90-120+ fps, sound tempo is WAY too fast. I turn on frame limit to 60, and I'm getting 54-58, and the tempo is acting ridiculously unstable. Whenever characters are onscreen, it's acting too slow, and just as soon as they go ofscreen, everything speeds back up to normal. I'm not sure if I should just expect the sound syncing to act this way due to the nature of emulation, or if something's ill-configured. In case the settings are needed : Graphics : Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.72 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: RADEON 8500 SERIES Resolution/Color: - 1024x768 Fullscreen - [32 Bit] Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 6 - Hi-Res textures: 0 - VRam size: 64 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: 60 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 3 - Framebuffer texture: 2 - Framebuffer access: 3 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: off - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: off [0] - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: off - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: off [00004000] Sound : P.E.Op.S. Mode : 2 Use SPUasync (must be supported by the emu) (none of the modes seem to make any difference) Volume : 2: loud Reverb : 2: PSX reverb Interpolation : 0 Every option that follows is unchecked XA Music -Enable XA playing -Change XA speed, if it is too fast (of course, CC being VGS there's not much this'll change) Misc -SPU IRQ - Wait for CPU action -Mono SOund Mode -Enable dev. debug mode -Enable sound recording window A sound sample will be provided if needed. Thanks to anyone who can help.
